OK, when I read the request, I was excited. It sounds like a great idea! But, after seeing the details, it sounds more like they need to hire a part-time Linden employee?

Develop and maintain a website, with daily content to fill 4 hours of streaming video, plus maintenance and non-streaming media, programming schedules, viewer statistics, etc.

Just for the video part, someone with a swift upstream will need to dedicate possibly 2 computers for 4+ hours daily to run SL, encode, and upload the stream. Then, spend hours creating other content for non-streaming view.

Anyone who has the time and skills to do this, even as a team effort, must realize that this is will be a real-life job (without the paycheck). It would be nice if it could be volunteer driven, but this sort of endeavor is a lot to ask for a single person or team.

Am I missing something? Shouldn't they just hire an RTSP Linden? Hopefully they'll turn this into a community collaboration effort, paying $L to those who can spend some time uploading or something.

The way I understood the proposal is that LL wants someone from the community to start their own affiliate program for SLTV. Whoever wins the bid will share the profit from SLTV with LL. The winner gets to decide how that profit will be made.

From: someone
Create an affiliate program to give the operator [of] SLTV.com the ability to earn money through a revenue sharing arrangement.

LL is just providing the venture capital b/c for whatever reason, this is not something they want to do themselves. They're taking a lot of expense off the operator by providing the massive bandwidth this business will require.

So become a small business owner with a lot of risk taken off your shoulders!
