A friend in Montreal told me druing the Election that they saw Kerry as Fairly conservative up there. She was surprised at how far to the right the US had swung.
Seems in many ways they are more respectful of individual choice. I of course am supporitive of gay marriage and think this is a good thing. |

I guess I should say good for Canada. I just have one problem with Gay Marriage. I don’t believe Marriage should have ANY thing to do with the Government. I wish Government would get out of the business of Marriage and then ANY one that wants to get married could.

Yay for Canada, I heard this on NPR and I was very pleased about it
![]() Olympia, don't wind me up on "conversion" camps. That isn't the only one that I've heard about. They are emotionally abusive of the children they are supposed to be saving. This is not something I've read in the press, I've heard it from the kids themselves after the fact. Liberty in the US too often means freedom as long as you are like me. Ugh ![]() _____________________

Imagine, if you will, what would happen if a camp opened up that purported to "convert" straight kids into homosexuals...

Lupo: It was But I'm a Cheerleader. Excellent movie!
And I'm glad to see some governments have some common sense. Lupo, my thoughts exactly about government butting their noses out of personal business. |

Right on, Cannucks! You rock.
As for the camp, that stuff has been going on for years. It's part of the "reparative therapy for homosexuals" genre of reconditioning therapies. I stand as a testament to the fact that those programs absolutely do not work... _____________________

And it was the Bloc Quebequois seperatists who helped make it pass. Merci, Quebec!

Canada’s House of Commons OKs Gay Marriage And big hugs to our northern neighbors for being ever so sensible! The right thing to do here is to ask them why they think they have any say at all in whom we marry anyway. |

The right thing to do here is to ask them why they think they have any say at all in whom we marry anyway. Whom we marry is our own business. But the legal recognition of our marriages (with rights of survivorship, inheritance, parenting, etc) is a function of government. I see no harm in encouraging and thanking those governments who are extending that recognition. So... thank you to The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Canada! You folks are AWESOME! I know where MY tourism dollars are going, and it's not Nebraska! |

Gay civil union was always ok in Canada. They made it ok for churches to refuse to marry people. Before it was a grey area and some churches did the marriages just because they didn't want to get sued.

And it was the Bloc Quebequois seperatists who helped make it pass. Merci, Quebec! The Bloc are not separatists. They will protect their culture at all costs, that simple. The only time they mention separation is when English Canada tries to undo all their efforts to install systems that protect French culture. It's like destroying all of Iraq, bombing the crap out of every building, killing kids and not giving a damn, and then if they get organized and try to make you leave, you call them "insurgents" and the public will hate them instead of you. Spin that yarn. The Bloc, like it or not, are the last, and one of the few remaining impediment to corporations taking over Canadian culture. The block needs to go nationwide and give the country a fighting chance. _____________________
