Teen grid question

One interesting side effect of seeing images coming through at http://teen.slpics.com is that every so often, it reveals someone who has been moved to the teen grid. For example, I had no idea that Ryen Jade had been relocated there. The question I have - if someone is found to be a minor in SL, are they automatically moved to the teen grid now?

There are two pictures that refer to Ryen Jade's builds there - but they aren't from Ryen himself so it is a little confusing. Maybe he isn't, though admittedly it would not shock me.

PS: A friend told me that there is some more nit picking on how I recieved this news. I saw LF's posted quote above. LF is not on ignore apparenty.

Those who I have on ignore are still nit picking over my posts. In this case where I read this news of Ryen. WTF business is it of theirs and why the hell is it so important? The rabid dogs need to get a fricken life.

I'm wondering if Linden Lab could provide insight into when they permaban someone for violating the age policy, and when they relocate someone?

Not just him. There are at least 8 others over there according to my teen on the grid. Part of the already evident problems, from a certain perspective, is that push scripts developed on the MG are being selectively distributed "secretly" amongst MG->TG transferees while "true TG newbies" don't even have basic anti-griefing tools or even knowledge about sitting on prims as an anti-push strategy. It's an industry already i seems.

Also popular in Skype and IM conversations seem to be entrapment tools, calls for shield penetrating bullets, and other "you saw it here (on the MG) first but thought the av's were merely immature" "gotta have THAT"'s.

Seems that even the most serious miscreants transferred from the MG to the TG can have their entire inventory and $L bank account transferred intact - one resident claims to have transferred over 120,000$L from the MG to the TG though the Leaderboard doesn't work over there so that can't be verified as yet. Talk about (not) starting off on a level playing field!

If you are confused, try explaining the importance of TOS adherence to your teen in the face of "starting off at a disadvantage" in comparison to an admitted TOS violator. I can't and the teen doesn't get it either. One near quote from a Linden in a TG forum post I was shown was "what do you do when a person 'merely' violated the TOS age restriction but was otherwise a model citizen on the MG, a Mentor, a LiveHelper. etc.?" This argument sort of seems to say that the OFFICIAL position is that "banning" and "suspension" for TOS age violations are paper tigers because LL has decided that the violators will help build the TG - for as long as they last.

At least four teens on the TG have admitted to mine that they remain on the MG in an alt capacity, after having either been caught on the MG and moved to the TG or having "turned themselves in" on their primary account and been moved over to the TG as "rewards" rather than being banned/suspended, whatever.

Color me confused also.

What an insight into a seemingly ridiculous situation.

This part makes sense to me as Linden policy.
One has to assume that the transfers happened because of age issues alone however for it to be a valid argument.
Personaly I severly doubt that this the case with most of these transfers, but it still makes sense if you give the Lindens the benefit of the doubt.

If they are in fact banned for behaviour as well though, why whould they be transferred at all? Is this part of that "they are just kids so even though they chopped up the neighbors cat they should be given a break" mentality so prevalent nowadays?

What can this do but create instant inequity and general havoc?

Seems to me that having violated the TOS, transfers whould be subject to divestiture of all their (by definition) ill gotten gains. I would think all inventory and all money should be stipped, period. Without recourse or appeal. Otherwise you are rewarding them for gaiming the MG.

I think it is a HUGE mistake to allow transfer of $L and inventories to the teen grid. $L are currently being sold on the teen grid for $5-6 USD per $1000L.

To allow inventories to be transfered certainly means there is adult content that has been transfered. I do not know of a way, short of rezzing every item in the transfered inventory, to prevent this from happening. It saddens me to hear that LL allowed the transfer of inventories.

Thank you for the excellent post - it gets to the heart of what I was asking, in ways I didn't even expect. I had no idea they were transferring money and inventories intact. While it is impossible to completely prevent communication with people from the MG, taking people from the MG and transferring them to the TG, especially if they have had disciplinary problems, is just a monumentally bad idea.

Looking at what is being built there so far, it seems like the place is growing slowly and has some great potential - I just hope that LL's notoriously lax disciplinary policies, combined with these transfers from the MG, don't cause undue harm to its growth. They have put such strict and seemingly well thought out in place regarding protecting the teens on the grid , I am surprised honestly that they would be doing these type of transfers.

Absolutly, to allow inventory and money to be transfered to the TG is a huge mistake on LL's part.
