According to these select reviews, it seems some people don't love SL as much as I do...
From: someone
YUK! One giant chatroom, pointless to the extreme. People need to go LIVE life, not simulate it.

From: someone
... it should be called first life, cuz only people who have no life would play it. what a piece of crap. >:-o

From: someone
The value, replay have fun, fly around, watch people make hte most stupid things. The people that play this game are loosers... ...if your not a loosers like them, they dont like you.

From: someone
PEOPLE PLS be very wary of this company and this game.

I guess you can't please everyone! :P

p.s. Here's the site (which also includes good reviews). Note the spelling and grammatical errors are proportional to the reviewer's contempt for the game

I've always thought the ones that don't get attracted, SL wouldn't benefit from them being here anyway. So in the end, it all works out. :)

Hmm..this sounds so familiar. Oh! That's right. I heard this griefer that was disrupting an event and generally being rude, inconsiderate and idiotic say the same thing!

You're going to get a lot of that on the gamer sites, because it's not a game per se. And because SL demands social skills, creativity and/or technical saavy, the harshest reviews will come from people who are maladjusted, unimaginative and/or not terribly bright.

Shadowbane players come to mind.

They might also come from other gaming communities who hate SL with a passion (a small sect of the There forum population comes to mind)

Oh, I think mmorpg is filled up with average age of 13. Wouldn't worry about it.

It was a cheap shot. I'm so ashamed. Maybe I'll sign up for Shadowbane and let them rez-kill me a few hundred times to make amends.

If these came from MMORPG sites, I would think that some or all are minors. We will probably see them in here in a few years, enjoying every minute.

All of the critics made obvious grammar and/or spelling mistakes.

COINCIDENCE?

Remember, those ill-informed ratings ultimately say more about the negative person writing them than about SL itself. :)

Different things attract different people.

For instance I find games like Everquest boring in the extreme..
I don't like Unreal Tournament, Doom, or a lot of those FPS games.
Muds I don't like playing, but I like coding..

I'm not going to say 'your game sucks' - I'll just say 'I don't enjoy your game'.

Takes all folks to make the world go bing.

SL requires imagination and a degree of creativity. A reasonable amount of native intelligence helps. I also suspect that some of the comments re: getting a life were made by individuals who spend as much (if not more) time playing in other online worlds. (Just my opinion, but why else would they be spending time in a forum about gaming?)

Critics abound. Always have... always will.

it is a niche game with no feel and a very, seriously, large homosexual player base

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Okay, homophobia and furry phobia aside some of them had very fair gripes. It does take a pretty decent comp to run this game. There is a lot of lag. Things don't rezz in any apparent order.

We love this game so we are willing to look past these things. But can you really blame someone who isn't in love with SL to be pissed of that they crash every time they walk? Or that their pants just won't load? Or every time they teleport somewhere they get stuck in a building that magically rezzed around them?

If you've played any other MMORPG and had to but up with hoards of 13 year olds who's english vocabulary does not extend beyond d00d and l33t then you understand 2 things

A - Why I stay in Second Life

B - The mentality of the people who made those comments.
