Deadly booby traps aside, making a 3D maze might be a lot of fun.

Loved the cube
great idea to make one :)

lol though I want to make a holodeck (subcatagory folders of objects and backdrops that can either be picked or rezzed randomly by the "computer";) would make an interesting attraction

heh sweet jaxiam!

as to scale, i was thinking it would be puzzle enough if it were a 4x4 with two open spots for movement. only problem is tunneling, but well there isn't anything you can do about that :-)

it actually shouldn't be that bad, if the lists are working, heh

You could have a teleport to the centre square, except if it's moving I'm not sure how that works.

i think the hardest part would be to come up with mathematical reason for the puzzle to act the way it does. i.e. why does this cube move here, rather than the one above and to the left. or maybe the cubes could be driven by the users... hmm that might work, let them try to navigate it, rather than figure out the archaic equations it uses to move...

The movment could be random. In the movie the problem was all the deadly traps. Without the traps random movment would add enough confusion to make it a good puzzle, I think. I do believe there are a number of web sites about "The Cube" where all it's functions are explained in great detail.

the movement was random, it was based on some crazy factorials that the mentaly handicapped guy could do in his head and the younger girl could use to figure out where to go with. at least that is what i remember heh.

I thought that was the way they figured out which cubes were trapped. She started by thinking they were prime numbers. It turned out that it was something more complicated(math is not my thing:) ) which only the handicapped guy could figure out. When they get to the last cube to exit they realize it was the cube they started in.
