Problems accessing sites

I'm in Australia and I'm having major problems accessing a number of US sites. I can get some but not others. My ISP, Bigpond, tells me that there is a major disruption is the US with some sites due to a technical issue in the US. I've emailed and IM'd some friend and I seem to be alone with this problem (I can access SL no probs for example). Is any one else having problems accessing some US sites??
