flying fish?

Anyone still see those flying fish things around? the ones that multiply, float above your head, do generations, and all that?

I always liked the idea of that... it made me think of some more "natural" animals dotting the landscape.

The fish is a good idea... but what if it acted more like an independent animal?

for instance, make it require something to stay alive. Seeing as you can't invent food sources or anything (well, you could), why not make it something that's plentiful in SL: people? The "food" would be the presence of avatars floating around. If there were a bunch of people, there would be more fish, because there'd be more "food". Less "food", less fish.

Also, you could have different fish have different colors maybe... depending on it's parent, it could mutate a slightly different color perhaps per generation? Then you could see a evolution of sorts for the schools of fish :)

I dunno, just throwing out ideas.

Those fish were created by Accent Godel. I haven't seen her in a while, but she was making the fish available to those who wanted them. I've got a version you can have if you're interested. I should be around on Thursday evening, and on the weekend.

Sounds pretty cool. There used to be animals in alpha, gathering abandoned objects I think, instead of the "decay to public" system... sometimes I think the lindens have tried as hard as possible to remove all the cool features from this game :D
Maybe they will add them back later. Its all a plan to keep us hooked :p

You are thinking of Flea's fish halo Jon, Accent's fly around and hover over the AV's and spawn new fish. I also have a copy if anyone wants it.

I will pay for someone to use the same technology to make a hippo that spawns new hippos.

Please :)

Wow, good idea with the animals eating random litter... I wonder if there was a way to make the fish do the same thing?

Animals in SL would be really, really cool.

I had one of those fish follow me once- I had it come above 512 meters with me ^_^. It died.

So does anyone know who introduced the flying fish today? I deleted 2 of them in boardman tonight (at Linden request).

Once upon a time in Alpha-Linden World there were animals that roamed freely (sorta). There were birds and snakes but they were more like simple prim objects named birds and snakes. They were apart of the early clean-up concept. Snakes were suppose to "eat" prims that were left unowned or on unowned property and birds were there to "eat" the snakes. You could also shoot snakes and kill them when they wandered too close or for sport. hehe

I swear when i get to any game all the cool stuff is already gone.

I'd love to do some snake hunting.

Sorry but those fish are a nightmare
09-26-2003 12:00
We had a nightmare last night with those fish. One was rez. The person rezing it didn't see Andrews announcement. Buy the time, we got it under control with Andrew coming in world to help that person was -1k and still loosing. A call for help went out to the Mentors. It was wonderful and heart warming to see all those response, offering help to keep a look out. Thanks to Beryl Greenacer, Panther, Bino, Andrew linden
& Linkin. We got all the fish we could find and the situation stabelized.
Ya! I guess you could say," go fishes go" like in another thread, but i have the feeling if you were the one loosing money you wouldn't think it was so cool.
I think it was very up standing of Eshar to come forward and explain what happend. But please do not copy and give this away any one not knowing what happend could start the nightmare all over.
