This quote was taken directly from the voting spot. I was really pushing for this feature a while back and I was very glad to see it had passed. However now almost 3 months later, and OVER 2 months over due. I'm starting to question this proposition's approval. Linden Lab comments?! Posted in Linden Lab Hotline: /invalid_link.htmlFrom: someone Prop: 7 no votes/no voters/no applied Name: PayPal Acceptance Category: web site Subcategory: my account Author: Voting System Admin Prop Date: 2005-04-13
Feature Detail: Integrate PayPal account acceptance as a payment option for new SL accounts, land auction purchases, and land tier fees.
Linden Notes: OK - given the high voting here (which was a surprise), we are speeding up the integration of PayPal. We will have this completed and begin accepting payments within the next 2-3 weeks .

Agreed, it should be done, but PayPal SUCKS if you're a seller with chargebacks and such... and their language about "intangable goods" (which virtual land most likely falls under) in their ToS is dubious at best. My guess is this isn't stuck at SL's tech department... its stuck in the legal department.
Just ask Ricky Zamboni about PayPal sometime! heh.
Lindens? Any updates?
Regards,
-Flip

I asked this same question in Hotline to Linden a week or two ago and was told it was ' ongoing' but not given any more precise dates,,,,so I gather it will happen one day but don't know when.

I think Flip probably has the right of it.

Funny thing is, SL Land isnt really an "intangable good", unless server hosting services are concidered "intangable".
Owning land means you're paying for server costs. Does hosting counts as intangable?

bingo, i'm with crystal. Charges back that have been done on me. All I say is I "rent" out server space (like a webhost) and then Paypal cnacels the chargeback and I get the money. As long as it's not for a L$ transfer you are 100% safe. (I think )

Looking at Paypal's seller protection policy it only seems to cover sellers if the buyer is in the US, UK or Canada.

I have a question: If they accept Pay Pal, how will they verify age of the user?

Cat Technically, they really can't, however you must be 18 years of age or older to use Paypal (or, the last time I checked you did) so thats really what they must be working off of. Credit Cards may filter out more less than 18 subscribers, but really there is no perfect age verification without asking for serious personal information and I know myself and 99% of people would be uncomfortable giving out, especially for a simple service as this. -V

You may still need a credit card for age verification, though I'm not 100% sure on that ;0

I think he means that Linden Lab may still require you to have a credit card number on file with them, even if you are paying with PayPal.
