since i've started asking about helping people, i've found that there are several groups actively doing things. i wonder if they are coordinating among themselves.

and i wonder how to organize this without creating yet another group, or an unnecessary layer of communication.

ideas?

Im not sure they need to be organized. Each group offers help in its own unique way. Turning them into a version of SL United Way just seems cumbersome and a layer that isnt needed.

yeah i was thinking that.

on the other hand being knowledgable about the other groups sounds useful.

and getting notecards from each other with useful information sounds useful (i.e. not reinventing the wheel).

but that whole united way layer kinds bugs me

I'm definately all for communication, and coordination of efforts. But IMHO - anything beyond a loosely-knit association may, as Toy mentions, be unneccesary.

That said - if you are putting something together, and I can help in any way, I'm more than happy to

The one thing I would like know is who all is doing what and where, so I can forward that information along to the new folks; especially those who ask for or specific types of help or info. I know I haven't met or communicated with EVERYone who's doing this.

Just wanted to pop in and let helpful people know that you can drop me what info/landmarks/free stuff you have and I'll set it up in the little community center for my free noob cabins in Davos. Brace already dropped me her organization's stuff, I have a poster/landmark up for the Shelter, and I'm ready for more...

Also anyone else that offers free housing is welcome, since I'm full up at the moment. I've been directing people to the free huts in Hawaii, but I'm sure there's more out there.

(All I ask is it be in its own little distribution prim that I can mod for size.)

Please feel free to list my place as a potential free rental spot. I have VACANCY/NO VACANCY in the title to the parcel, so its easy to know if I have a spot available or not.

I sure don't mind being IM'd about stuff - so please have at it!
Also I'm jump-starting Noobie Tuesdays - Show & Tells for 2 months and younger every Tues nite at 6pm

I remember Damien Fate had those going on when I joined, and it was a great place to meet people, get info and show off yer stuff. I know I was able to get a foothold on starting my own business due to winning/placing at these sorts of events.

I think I'll put together a calendar of some sort for regular noobie events - I got the roster for the Shelter - anyone else?
