Initial Impressions :)

Wow...second night...and so far so good

Ok. maybe coming from that game-that-shall-not-be-named can bias me somewhat.....so here goes..

First day...very nice tutorial to learnt the grips...and then met a few nice people...love the exchanging cards idea...

ok finally off to the big world....wow...and BIG does not even describe it.....so flew (wow...flying....so...wow..) around and met this nice guy building things....then attended a basic building tutorial...sadly could not finish it as being GMT time and having to work at 8am is going to be a problem hehe

so second day....flew around...met up a few other people then the big meeting discussing Games....was really good and met some nice people....got invited to a group and even bought a smasinh outfit (wow, lasers....wow...and did I mention they work...)

.ok...am still so amazed at sheer range of customizable objects....still going to explore a lot more...then eventually try learn some of this building code all I can say is....can't wait...

this is like opening a huge whole tub of mixed chocolates and at this stage has only first piece slowly melting in mouth ...like I said, can't wait...

Just downloaded the client - haven't had a chance to login yet -

I couldn't find in the Forums or KB whether there was a reason for only allowing logins between 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM PST. Any idea why this is ?

it's time for the Lindens to work on the game. we test from 4 to 10 pst and they work.. from 10pst to 4pst

Was very suprised & excited to get my invite last night. So far a very nice experience. I met a few Lindoners and they were very friendly and helpful. I flew to tha Casino, and "wow" all the things I flew over, it was quite amazing to know that it was all built by the players. My GF2go laptop suffered though once I was in such a built up place. Time to upgrade my desktop, once again, I was not expecting to be invited. To tell the truth I applied a few months ago, the same time I applied for SW Galaxies, and have been awaiting a SWG invite, and I knew I would have to upgrade for it. But to be invited to enjoy this new world I think its time to spring for the GF4. Don't mean to ramble on, but I was not really ready for this and it has me all flummaxed. Now if I do get a spot on SWG I don't know how I'm going to split up my time

I'll try to rap this up here... So far so good! Once the shock of even getting a spot wears down & I have a better machine, I can't wait to get really into this. One last question... What graphics card would you all recommend? Nvidia or ATI? Which seems better suited to SL? Thanks ahead of time, and can't wait to meet you all in-world.

wait for the next rad.. after the GF FX

After posing the question in another thread I think I am going to add more RAM to my laptop first. Thanks for the input. I think I'll go with Nvidia when I do upgrade the desktop, but one more question, why wait untill the next card after FX?

the Radeon 9800 is why. just check out www.hardocp.com 's review of it, it blows everything out of the water.

but seeing as how it's not really ATI's next gen (which has what... a new chipset or somthing special?) and ATI's next gen will probably blow the 9800 out of the water...

the next year will be insane in the offices of ATI, and Nvidia's got its work cut out for it. (or somthing..)
