I learned in school that one of the differences between Canada and America was freedom of expression vs freedom of speech. I think the subtle differences speech vs expression were a great thing to have. The sum of the parts was greater than the whole because of similar yet differing unique freedoms. Today, I was reading Canadian Bill of Rights because of SL prop 407. It's been a long time since the bill of rights was explained to me, and it came from a source that I trusted so it's possible today was the first day I actually read the thing. Is the part about "expression" is missing? From: someone PART I BILL OF RIGHTS Recognition and declaration of rights and freedoms 1. It is hereby recognized and declared that in Canada there have existed and shall continue to exist without discrimination by reason of race, national origin, colour, religion or sex, the following human rights and fundamental freedoms, namely, (a) the right of the individual to life, liberty, security of the person and enjoyment of property, and the right not to be deprived thereof except by due process of law; (b) the right of the individual to equality before the law and the protection of the law; (c) freedom of religion; (d) freedom of speech; freedom of assembly and association; and (f) freedom of the press. SPEECH! My teachers! They lied, they lied right to my face!

The Canadian Bill of Rights (1960) is superceded by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (1982), which contains (as Section 2): From: someone 2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
a) freedom of conscience and religion; b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication; c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and d) freedom of association.
So, express away, Jack!

Hey, I'm personally more worried about the Reform Party... errr, I mean PC party. Am I the only one who thinks Stephen Harper looks like a Dick Tracy villain with that small face of his?
