I'm getting so frustrated with lag in this game. It takes several seconds to start moving, then moves me far off from where I wanted to be. I spend more time trying to situate my avi when building, then I actually do building ! I cant be the only one experiencing this. And NO...ITS NOT MY COMPUTER OR DRIVERS! ...Sorry, but that seems to be the adhoc answer/reasoning for most every support center out there.

Are you sure its not your computer or drivers? Just kidding!
![]() I'm currently in my sim, Indigo, getting about 40 fps lag-free. I only feel lag in sims where sim fps is below about 90-100 most of the time on the new, more accurate "sim fps" scale. It is true, however, I tend to avoid most "popular" places because I've found that "popular = badly scripted over populated lag fest". While I love people, I hate lag. ![]() Regards, -Flip _____________________

Have you tried adjusting your settings lower?
Reduce your draw distance, turn off local lighting, turn off shiny.... Doing these things can GREATLY enhance your FPS. BTW, describe your system to us, maybe thats the problem. ![]() _____________________

no not everywhere, just on sims where everyone feels a need to overbuild, run every script in their inventories, and use unique texture after unique texture = piss poor managment. I created two sim wide projects that were content rich and did not create lag until 30 ppl showed up with all their attachments. It can be done, but it's not easy by any means. Lag is a real problem because we live in the "me" generation. "my build has to be better than my neighbors" ... If ppl organized a lot of the lag would go away. Any sim that thinks they can run 800 scripts all at once is going to have lag. There are no two ways about it. Lag is my biggest pet peeve, I leave places that are so laggy that I can't even move to go see what I came to see.

I have to live without shiny . . . sigh . . . I sometimes wonder what shiny is like. And I live without as much of all else I can live without (or know to live without). And still - get me around a bunch of people, and things slow way down.

Object Detail
08-22-2005 14:38
Everyone talks about local lighting, shiny, and draw distance.
What really helped me was turning down "Object Detail". All that prim hair is made of very complex objects with many polygons. Turn down the object detail and you'll go from molasses to quicksilver. -WW |

Well, take a look at these two texts to see if they are of any help:
http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=Changing%20Preferences%20for%20best%20performance http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=Improving%20Mac%20Performance (this one is meant to be for the Mac, but you can test it on a PC as well) After 6 months of getting used to a slow SL, I found out the second text on the forums, which improved my latop's performance dramatically... _____________________
