I too would like to know how the base of those poles were made. They look a bit more slick-multi-faceted then the primatives I have. :D

How to make
11-26-2002 17:07
You will both kick yourself for this one, but here you go:
Make torus
Hollow 95%
Set the hole size to be 0.45
set the top shear to be 0.00
Heres the magic
make an advanced cut, beginning at 0
ending at 0.25

Turn upside down and viola, one pole.

You can click on the object, and select edit. Even though you can't take the object, you can see how it was made.

Hope this helps.

No, actually, I'm glad to hear this,, as I was starting to stew in the presumed injustices of staff using 3rd party apps,,while drinking martinis, horkin up copious ammounts of cocaine off the heaving saline-laden cleavage of nubile young exotic dancers, and laughing at my efforts with aloof derision & contempt... I have a rather active imagination, I'm told. :D

Glad to hear it, thanks Peter that was useful info.

Seeing that torus are a bit more poly intensive perhaps a gob of them could be used to slow down a sniper around a fort in the outlands.

you can also use um to make nice sexy stairways - ala old art museum.

In fact, torii form the basis for many in-world religions

Oh boy, that's all we need... specific instructions on how to use hollow, cut torii for fancy objects. Um... you guys know that torii put extra load on the physics engine, right? It sure is a good thing we finally fixed our deep-think bug in the next release (don't mind me... I'm wandering the forums looking for opportunities to re-iterate this fact).

All of the Linden developers already know that I've got a grudge against torii and hollow objects in general. Sure they can be used to great effect... but they have been the source of many a slow-sim headache. Did I mention... oh nevermind.

Oh well, one thing's for sure... you Lifers love to use torii! (The two deer just wouldn't have been possible without them. And I have to admit... I really did like Flyk's toroidal house in the old Linden World.)
