I was glad to see that someone started a Yahoo! group for SLers a couple of months ago. However, when I joined it today, I was only the 7th member.

I am a member too. I found it maybe a week ago or so and I think Garnet Psaltery began it.
 It doesn't appear to be all that active because well, we are all in SL. |

There's also a fairly quiet Livejournal community for Second Life, which also serves as a good way to tie together the various individual SL livejournals too.
