Ordinarily I would not post Snapzilla stuff here, but since people are curious about the teen grid, I thought I would point out that a user from the teen grid submitted a snapshot today as a test for upcoming support of the teen grid. Aside from showing that textures take forever to render there too, it doesn't really show much - but notice the name of the sim, which I think is adorable :)

Edit:

The same person sent a better snapshot in after the test, here it is:

Actually, I think someone else took a picture earlier -- I forget their name, they were on IRC. Something Zaius. Alpha Zaius, that's it ... check him out.

What is interesting about Alpha Zaius' pictures is they date all the way back to March - it seems maybe he was moved to the teen grid? Does anyone know the names of the sims on the teen grid, maybe there are more pics from the grid itself? The picture submitted today was on purpose for testing of support - I had not realized that some had already been put through.

Yes, it does seem Alpha Zaius relocated to Teen SL :) I have noticed that he has been sending pictures for a few weeks - all the pictures in July from them are teen grid pics - I have updated them to indicate that.

Alpha's teen grid pictures are here:

Very very cool. You should set up a seperate teen grid area so we can see all the teen grid pics.

You gotta figure out how to monetize this, though, dude.

From what we have so far (via Snapzilla):

secondlife://Sandbox_Island_2/114/246/
secondlife://Lewis/207/75/
secondlife://Carroll/29/224/
secondlife://Sandbox_Island/79/133/
secondlife://Adams/153/159/
secondlife://Rowling/174/240/

From the History Wiki:

Meiji East

The history wiki map has 25 sims on.

Armath Severine's blog doesn't have any sim names in that we don't have above. There is another teen grid blog somewhere I think.

SL Exchange's forums had a request for a terminal (obviously declined) in Tolkien

Very cool!

Say...is there a way to search Snapzilla and see *only* images submitted from the teen grid?

Interesting Parallels...
07-27-2005 08:24
From the map of the Teen Grid provided above it looks like the 25 regions that comprise it are fundamentally a parallel world of the The Grid. The pictures of the Teen Welcome area could be pictures of our own. The land mass and arrangement also mirror our own, from the Welcome area at "Ahern", down south through the vehicle regions and then east toward what would be our areas named Abbotts, Cowell, Noyo and the other places the Lindens named after Califonia coastal towns, all the way down to Mavericks.

Many of the photos (above that Eggy posted) look like an alternate development of the Rodeo area. I'm guessing that the Teen Grid area we know as "Rodeo" is called "Tolkien" there. The map photo has "Tolkien" at the top (indicating what region the picture taker was in) and their yellow dot is smack dab in what would be our Rodeo.

I wonder if the other regions named after authors correspond to our California coastal regions as well...

Very interesting!

p.s. It wouldn't be quite so foreign to new arrivals from the Teen Grid. They would have a profound sense of deja vu as they travel south from our Welcome Area and be able to get their bearings a bit as they start exploring The Grid.

I think that Meiji East corresponds to our Noyo Telehub and, after reveiwing Alpha Zaius' photos on Snapzilla, that their Carroll region might be our Stinson area.

I just love a good mystery!

Other Teen Grid sim names gleaned from this blog :

http://secondage.blogsome.com/

It sounds like these five sims might be named after 5 expatriates from the Main Grid who were relocated to the Teen Grid:

From: someone
Behemoth: Malarthi Behemoth, Scripting, the Snoopy-Phase dog, is the first. He’s a mysterious character, who references funny exploits to the Linden staff, but refuses to elaborate if pressed by newer residents. “It was before your time.”

Dougall: Ron Dougall, Land & building, is the second. Half of his sim is water, and a huge castle-dock straddles the line. Ron is a mysterious character, he seems a newer player at first glance, but then comes out with amazing things that show that he is very much not.

Meiji East: Otaku Meiji, Avatar Builder. Otaku’s avatars are the best on the grid, but again, she as a player is mysterious, playing dumb when asked about her Founder status. This sim is home to the Meiji Telehub, the only access to almost 13 sims.

Meiji West: Kurenai, Avatar Builder. Otaku’s (apparently IRL) sister, and another great avatar builder. Not much is in the sim as of now, but due to it’s proximity to the Meiji telehub, that is expected to change.

Zaius: Kin Zaius, Ouranos TSL. Likely the only TG equal to Ryan Dayton, of cross-grid fame. His towers stretch into the sky, and his work can be seen almosts everywhere. Currently MIA.

Based on this info, I'm guessing that Meiji West might be the area recognizable to us as Cowell on the Main Grid.

Yes, there is a separate area filtered with just teen grid pics, here is the link:

http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/Snapshots.aspx?type=teen

It is also a link on the side, above member albums.

Also incidents in the Teen Grid seem to be listed on the police blotter so if we know it's not on the main grid we could find more names (but this is a hassle).

I'm presuming that Cristiano can search Snapzilla by sim and could therefore pick out new teen gridders by searching on the sims we have now. This hopefully would find submissions by them from sims we don't know yet :)

2 of my children 13 and 15 signed up for the Teen Grid today, was interesting watching (and helping) over their shoulders.

As a parent it's a bit frustrating not being able to give them anything like L$ or clothes/toys etc, also the fact that being in the UK they can't access it until 8pm ! However the access hours are apparently being looked into.

It seems that First Land *workarounds* are already being done, someone asked my daughter to buy FL for them, he'd give her 850 if she bought it for 512... she politely declined, not least because she's only on basic account at the moment. Unfortunately at home their PC isn't up to spec so they can only log in when they come here.

If anyone needs any pics or all the sim names etc, we can get those some time tomorrow. Was quite a struggle to get them to log off and go to bed so Scorpio and I could have our computers back to log into the MG ourselves ! lol

Edited to add: Would be interesting to know how many more children of MGers are in the TG :)

Gemini,

Please let them know if they want to share any snapshots, they can send them to teen@slpics.com - this will flag the picture as a teen grid picture :)

Snapzilla has a Bull now, and a Snicket.

Snicket is Yorkshire dialect for an alleyway if people are interested. I imagine in the teen grid it follows the theme of being named after authors.

It all looks good - Alpha Zaius, Matt Thetan. Ming Chen (where have all our scripters gone!), Quin has had a gay wedding, 782 has been unbanned...
