Folks, nobody is going away.

You can attack, insult, denigrate endlessly .. but nobody is going to leave. Nobody is going to shut up.

You're just going to piss each other off and the forums are going to devolve into complete muck, and we're all going to make Jeska's job a tedious pain in the butt.

I can post stupid pictures and stupid jokes and insulting remarks about your intelligence as much as you can, whoever you might be. I can make jokes about how I've put you on ignore. So can a lot of people.

It's not going to get any of us anywhere.

Let's just all take a step back and discuss the forum topic here - SecondLife.

If you disagree with someone, just for the love of god, ignore them. Don't brag about how you're ignoring them. JUST IGNORE THEM.

It's what every other sane individual in these forums does. Join the sanity.

Now there is a great thread about winning a building contest. I'm going to go bump it. Let's talk about that, cause it's about creating and it's about secondlife and it's about making us all look good.

"User-created content takes the idea of leveraging player opinions a step further by allowing them to effectively prototype new ideas and features. Developers can then measure which new concepts most improve the products and incorporate them into the game in future patches."

A lot of people I know won't go into the city. Nope; traffic, gangs, urban decay, panhandlers, it's just not worth it for them. They think I'm crazy to venture down as I do. But I'm unwilling to give up the music, the art institute, the galleries, the unique shops, dive bars, and all the other things a city has to offer. Familiarity makes me adept at bypassing lots of annoyances and you have to know how to carry yourself. But if there's obstacle in my way I am going to maneuver around it and keep moving toward my destination, not turn around and go back home. I am more concerned with the problems of the city and more importantly the ways to resolve them than those who avoid it altogether because I intend to keep on going there and am unwilling to relinquish the positive due to its negative aspects.

And maybe it would be helpful if we support those who are positive Forum citizens.

There is no forum situation. This is simply how humans who discuss things via an electronic medium behave. It will never change.

In addition to the forum continuing as it always has, there will also be folks who will forever call for a change in the forum to solve its problems, just like there will always be one or two folks who remind them that this is how it's always been and will always be. This cycle will repeat forever.

I keep casting my vote in national elections in spite of the awareness that neither result is likely to bring about change. I also spent election day as a volunteer to assist others attempting to exercise ther right to vote in arguably the most unsafe area in the city which stood in stark contrast to the homebaked cookies and coffee I was treated to in my moneyed district. I'll leave it to others to debate what I am or am not; I'll just keep focused on the road ahead and thinking about what I can do.

Then why are some people so much more: a.adult b.civil or even c. kind about it than others?

It boils down to people's personality and their respect for others.
