It is only recently that I have become aware that it seems to be possible to make groups which don't appear in the groups search list or in the groups list in a person's profile, that is, secret groups. I may be wrong about this, but if I am right, then I propose the following questions:
What secret groups are you in? Who else is in the secret groups with you? What do you talk about in your doubly secret group IMs? How do you recruit new members? What do you do to those who wish to leave?

One note on this topic.
There is a bug right now with group creation. If you first create a group and choose to have it not listed and members hidden, you will not be able to access your group once created. This option is in the general set up section right under the place to enter your charter for the group. The work a round is to leave both options checked, or enabled, while creating the group. Once your group is created, you can go in and change those options later.
As for the nature of the groups being secret. I have a group that is not listed. The only reason is that it is primarily for my land holding and close friends. There is no reason to have it openly displayed. It is called Lochwood. Group IM is never used. I dont recruit for members and anyone is free to leave anytime.
Sorry about the boring nature of my private group. Since it is not shown I never have to explain this to people so I figure once here is fine.
Maybe someone will share something interesting about the nature of their secret groups.

Outstanding cover story, Loki.
I was a victim of the bug you mention. My group is so secret that when I tried again to make a group using the same name as the one that vanished even the group creation system was unaware of its existence.
I am not sure if the bug you mentioned is really a bug or simply a clever method of helping to maintain the value of the linden. I want my hundred lindens back! Perhaps they have been deposited in a secret group account that I can't access?

Sue, look for an online liaison, most of them can help you out with the group you created and cant access.

Secret Groups?

From: SuezanneC Baskerville What secret groups are you in? Pop Secret, of course. From: SuezanneC Baskerville Who else is in the secret groups with you? Soda "Big Gulp" Pop and Red "Sweet Sweet" Vines. From: SuezanneC Baskerville What do you talk about in your doubly secret group IMs? Microwave scripts, and the how to cook best while compensating for time dilation and fps overcooking. From: SuezanneC Baskerville How do you recruit new members? No-one can resist our buttery smell and rich flavor. From: SuezanneC Baskerville What do you do to those who wish to leave? We revoke their salt and butter rights. They'll be back. They always come back.

I have an unlisted group for the same reason as Loki - it is the group that holds my land, along with my girlfriend's. It is not actually completely hidden - if you click on any of my land, you can see it is held by Midnight Land Trust, and it will show me as the founder. I imagine many of the unlisted groups are for the same purpose.

Gullible people sought for indiscreet answers

The number of non-responses not received from intelligent and wary members of secret groups has been overwhelming and quite satisfying.
I am now specifically directing this question to members of secret groups who are really trusting and don't have much on the ball and can't figure out that I am trying to trick you into revealing your secrets even though I am stating it loud and clear right here in this sentence.
So come on, those of you in secret groups who don't have a lick of sense, identify yourselves and reveal all your group's secrets now!
You don't need to worry about telling us everything; I'm sure everyone reading this thread can keep a secret.

You don't need to worry about telling us everything; I'm sure everyone reading this thread can keep a secret. I am in the secret ALC (anti-Little-critters) group. We meet every Thursday at 2:00 AM in the WA sandbox to discuss "the critter problem." We are developing a secret weapon to wipe out all critters called "Big Boots." Unfortunately however, they have to be wiped-off after each kill. This leaves one open to a critter attack from behind when one bends down to clean them. Needless to say, self-cleaning boots are in the works! .

Self cleaning boots aren't really needed....
07-09-2005 12:01
No need for self cleaning boots, Dianne, many aspiring members-to-be of the FIC have acquired considerable skill at boot licking as part of the application process and should provide a suitable labor pool.

I'm in a group so secret, so cunning, so downright evil that I'm not even allowed to know it's name. It needs no name. I simply receive my orders through a crab sculpture that lives in my pond in Mowry , and carry them out. Then every Tuesday I am rewarded with L$500 for carrying out my duties. Even if there were no orders that week, as long as I logged in to check, I still get my L$500. Now, how cool is that, huh?

Wow, ouch! That'll teach me to post in a humorous thread! Good one! .
