As i was transferring Money from SLExchange, the SL Servers went down - again. This has cost me a small sum of cash. Talk about bad timing!

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know if it will just "appear" eventually? or is it just kinda tough luck?

Would be interesting to know.

That really depends on how SLEX is coded. I recommend speaking to SLEX management personally and asking them to check their money transaction records.

Good luck!

We had a few similar situations with SLBoutique.com that occurred during the "Chaos Weekend" when the servers were having all kinds of problems.

According to Lee, the financial functions operate like an clearing house; if there is a failure, it will NOT have the financial transfer occur on the server. However, the client may update incorrectly (your Second Life viewer). According to Lee, the viewer will update to the correct amount upon your next financial transaction or relog. Otherwise, the Second Life viewer on your machine would have to constant perform queries to the server to find your balance, which isn't really a good option. :-)

I hope this information help you. You can also find a much more details version of your transactions like this:

Log into SecondLife.com
Click YOUR ACCOUNT
(enter your password again, UGH)
Click "TRANSACTIONS" in the right hand navigation

You may find you've already got your money back!

Regards,

-Flip

SLEX probably doesn't commit a transaction until their representing av responds that the money is, in fact, decucted from their balance. So they, at least should show that you never got the money. You will have to contact them though. If you don't see the money in your balance, LL can't help you. They surely don't commit until everybody's balance is confirmed.

Most likely the SLEX av never got the instruction to pay you which means their records will show no transaction at all. Your balance there should be the same as it was before the crash.

This situation was resolved earlier this morning. It looks like Mark attempted a withdrawal at the exact moment that the problem occurred. The withdrawal showed up as successful in the slx database, but did not occur in SL. This means that whatever terminal or central authority server tried to pay him actually thought it paid him, as it sent a success notification back to the slx server.

As some of you have speculated, we do verify start and finish of every in-world monetary transaction related to SL Exchange just in case of problems like this.
