Hurricane Katrina affects us ALL a lot major. Next to being only the fourth category 5 hurricane to hit the United States in a 100 years(!?!), it has forced the evacuation of 21 oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico which produces almost a quarter of the United State's oil according to the BBC. According to other news, the New Orleans Oil Port which imports 11% of the oil, about 1 million crude oil barrels A DAY.
Gas is about to go UP! AGAIN!

Gas is about to go UP! AGAIN! Not only the import facilities, there are major refineries there. The US has NO excess refinery capacity. I think that might wind up being the big story. Buster

I just heard on the news its going to affect the refineries, already has. And if there is major damage to any of these facilities..........
This is probably going to be more major than we expect now..
This may make the price per barrel I read go up to $72
Any one keep an eye on the stock market and see what this is doing there?

New Orleans may be about to become a lake. Oil and gas prices should be the LAST of your worries.

From: Tikki Kerensky New Orleans may be about to become a lake. Oil and gas prices should be the LAST of your worries. Those of us who don't live in the immediate area and who don't have friends or family in the area should be worried about the economic fallout resulting from this. If NOLA were to cease to exist, the immediate effect on most people would be negligible. The economic consequences are of far more concern to everyone.

But a friend of mine and the woman I love were both right there in the middle of it all and I'm still waiting to find out if they got on the plane as promised and got out so honestly, oil and economics, and even that beautiful city, not my biggest concern right now or frankly ever. I'll pay 1000$ a barrel for gas I dont care, if they're both safe.
