Seems to me people are in too much of a rush these days to not even care what damage they do with or to their vehicles. I'm sure it is everywhere these days, anyone else notice careless drivers in their home towns? I live on a road with mederate to sometimes heavy traffic. The speed limit is posted at 35 and I live right on the corner. If I was a cop I could just sit on that corner alone and write out tickets all day because about, not all, but about all the cars that pass by are doing at least between 45-55 MPH. That is 10 to 20 mph over the speed limit, and there is children that are on that road or you know live near it with their parents. I think it always takes some fatality to make something change. All I ask is if you are a fast driver, slowwwww down. If you need to be in a hurry that much, do everyone a favor and take the bus or some other means of public transportation. If you live in an area that doesen;t have those means find a driver that is safer or abides the speed limit. I've never had a speeding ticket all my years of driving so at least I know it is possible not to get tickets for speeding. Anyone else agree with me on this driving thing?

i agree..... i drive for a living and you would not belive some of the things i see on a daily basis .....and most days i travel the same roads at the same time (rush hour) and see the same people doing the same stupid things everyday . and why is it everyone's got to race to get to the red light when its red? you dont get anywhere any faster just piss the guy driving the big truck off ,or cut in front of him and slam on the brakes cause there wasnt enough room for you to fit ?

Or the ones who insist on being a boogers throw off of your bumper on the Interstate. I have a 8month old and with the way people drive here that is one of the worst.

And my little one is in the back seat!!! at 65mph with someone THAT close, all it takes is a deer or something to jump out and my little guy is the first and possably the only one who could get hurt!

PEOPLE THERE ARE KIDS ON THE ROAD!!!!

sry just upsetting that to drive seems like a civil war.

I mean compare the stats, to the recent wars fought where the US was involved. We have a higher casulty rate on our roads than in war. I say lets just make our enemies drive on our roads instead of spending millions in taxes on military equipment. Heck our civilians will kill em faster and cheaper with less discrimination.

OMG!!!!

I could not agree more with you people!!! I can't count the times I have been cut-off and then blew my horn at someone. There is one that I remember, where I did that and I exited about a mile up the road. Well, the guy that cut me off was obviously mad at me, considering he jumped the EXIT median, and chased me down till we got to a stop light, where he proceeded to get out of his jeep and come up to my window challangeing me to a fight. So needless to say I checked traffic, ran the light and sped off.

As far as I know he was just some guy having a really bad day and I set him off. Or he just has some Rage issues. Oh well, never saw him again. Just wanted to share my tale.

Ooo.. Idea! "Citizens of SL for safer roads!" It can be a campaign slogan, who wants to lobby for it?

Heartily agree with everyone... my area has horrible traffic at rush hour, and I hate driving 26 miles to and from work with so many people who tailgate, cut others off, don't signal turns, speed excessively, create their own lanes, and have a blatant disregard for traffic rules and other vehicles.

I'm glad our highway patrol has their headquarters here... not that it helps a lot, but it makes me smile when I see someone pulled over somewhere on my drive.

I love waving at people when they let me in while driving... it makes me feel good, and I think it's starting to spread. I hope I'm a trend setter. (:

With so many vehicles on the road, there are a lot of good drivers too... but the bad ones seem to be more numerous.

And what about cross walks
07-04-2003 09:00
You know people just walk right out there cross walk or not. No one stops and looks anymore. Did not our mommies teach us look left then right then left again. Who taught these people how to cross the street. It the worst around schools. These kids walk out and if they do bother to look at you it's with this ( hey the world is mine get the heck out of my way) look that makes me want to strangle them. Ya know I have 7 nieches and 7 nephews and I know they would get the full treatment if thier parents ever saw them acting like that. Where are parents these days. Ok now I sound 50 and I'm not.

I have a small two-seater and am constantly getting cut off by bigger cars because no one sees me in their mirrors. One incident comes to mind. Driving in rushhour traffic on 285 in GA someone decided to cut me off doing about 90. I ended up doing 2 360s on the freeway! Not a good thing to see cars coming at you while you try to regain control of your vehicle because someone was in too much of a hurry to pay attention to others around him. I hate that!

It doesn't bother me at all, Neo. I scrape these people off of backboards after the paramedics bring them into the ER. Assholes who cause wrecks by driving drunk or in at very high speeds usually are taped VERY tightly (medics have a sick sense of humor..) across the forehead and across their inevitably-full bladder and have the largest guage needle known to man in their arm.

Then I get to usher the police officer to their stretcher and draw their blood for the crime lab. gotta love it.

So, as with most things, it's all in your perspective. When they blow by me on the road, I always think, "Well, I'll see YOU later....."

what goes around, and all....

heh you guys wanna talk about bad drivers? i wonder if any of you have been to NJ... :P

I think i learned the best way to deal with it is to ignore the idiots. they'll always be there. don't feel like you've lost anything if you decide to get out of their way and let them pass. otherwise you just end up being an idiot too... ;)

got a saying
07-04-2003 12:57
I agree, I have a saying I go by. Goes like this, if baloney skins don't run you off the road you'll be lucky to make the Sunday Paper. Translation : Thin tread on tires, of vehicles will make you either wreck or get stopped somewhere along the road. If the fact that your treadless tires somehow don't kill you, someone else will help you make the Obituary section of the Sunday Paper. Who wants to be in the paper? Not me.

If you can drive in Los Angeles, you can drive anywhere. Driving here isn't as much a method of travel as a gladiator sport.

on I-85 is terrible. Imagine 6 lanes of traffic on both sides of the road and it's bumper to bumper. Terrible I say.
