hey! I am being screwed by IGE they are trying to defraud me out of some money, and are refusing to give me info on their owner. IGE is some call center in hong kong. does anyone know the owners AVI name? i forget. and any contact info or general info about the owner or parent company would help. (not the info on the site its goes to the call center)
I would not deal with IGE if I were you, i dont want to get myself into trouble but if you want to recieve your money and dont want it stolen, dont use them.
any info would help. ty

any info would help. ty IGE is located in hong kong (or china, or somewhever around there), not just their call center. Their "owner" as such doesn't have an AV. They use an account named IGE Wheeling to conduct buisness, but it can be operated by anyone. And another notch in the wall.

any info would help. ty I'm no friend of IGE, but saying "they are trying to defraud me" and "if you want to recieve your money and dont want it stolen, dont use them" is a bit slanderous. I also had a bad experience with IGE. I bought currency on their web site, but did not receive it in world. It took several days and several phone calls before they said, in broken English, "your transactions are too large, we cannot do transactions that large". (Why the web site accept them then?) Anyway, it took several more days and more phone calls and emails before the charges were finally reversed on my credit card. Maybe you are experiencing something similar -- maybe they aren't dishonestly trying to steal your money, but instead they are merely bungling the transaction and will straighten it out eventually after you make enough phone calls and provide them with some kind of proof that they screwed up. Incompetence is not the same thing as dishonesty. (I don't use them because I think they are incompetent, and that isn't slander because I am stating an opinion which I have solid evidence to support.) Buster

Actually, it's not slanderous. It is, if anything, libelous.  That said, though, while I mostly agree with what Buster says, I wonder if there is a point where "incompetant" verges into fraud by negligence... That is, if your so incompetant that you regularly in effect attempt to defraud people, at what point does it become de facto fraud? In other words, how far can you stretch "incompetant" as an excuse?

I have had the unfortunate displeasure of using IGE about 4-5 times before moving to GOM. Not a single one of these transactions went smoothly, there was -always- a problem. More often the money would not be sent withough jumping through about 5 flaming hoops and several phone calls at sickening hours of the night. I am pro-GOM completely now, before I just had no idea about it. I have no intention to ever do business with IGE again, even if their $L were 10 cents cheaper than GOM (will never happen, but as an example). A few mistakes are acceptable, however increasingly bothersom mistakes on each occassion... unexcusable.

I have been a customer of IGE's for over a year and have not had any noteworthy problems with them and would recommend them highly. The one minor problem I did have was my own doing (I chose bank wire insted of Paypal), and the situation was corrected. I have found the most effective customer service route with them is their web site - they have live help 24 hours a day. I have never called them. Jsecure Hanks claimed the same thing in another thread because he had not received payment in one hour (it can take several hours now that they use Paypal's mass pay system). He claimed the same thing - he was defrauded - and even after he received payment, did not retract his comments. I understand people are sensitive when money is involved, but it doesn't mean you have free reign to libel a company either.

I found the Live Help on their website to be more infuriating that speaking to someone on the phone.

These posts are annoying. Someone says they got screwed, then other people have to point out how they have never been screwed. It reminds me of when the OJ case first broke and OJ's first wife said "Well, he never beat me", wel he beat the hell out of someone, even if it wasnt her. Anyway carry on bickering.

Do I feel it necessary to disparage a company because of a language barrier? No. I chalk up all life experiences just as that, life experiences. This wasn't actually really about the language barrier until you made it thus, more or less like the last time this came up in the economy forum. The language problem is like the straw that broke the camel's back for most people - it's bad enough that they are incompetant so often; the fact that they aren't even able to speak english to deal with their customers is just an additional aggrivation.

Difficulty communicating alone would not be incompetence. Repeatedly promising to do something and not doing it, claiming to not have any record of credit card charges, having to start all over at the beginning with different people on the phone, emails that are ignored, hanging up in mid conversation, repeatedly mistaking me for a different customer, THAT sort of stuff. That's incompetence. I have no doubt that for small transactions that are handled automatically by their system would work fine or they wouldn't have so many people using them. But when things go wrong, as they did for me once, it was very painful. Buster
