If you have a ceramic coaster which is decorated on one side and has corky stuff on the other side, which side you YOU sit your drink on? lol

The corky side is always down, because the decorative side might mar the surface... which would pretty much make the whole exercise pointless. The cork is not there to soak up the condensation off the beverage, its to protect the table's surface.

No no no, the whole point of the design is so that you can have the "pretty picture" type thingy on the top so you can SEE it...who wants to look at "cork"...lol

I'm glad some people here still care enough to bring up the kinds of topics people really care about! :D

Well here was my reasoning process....

The water from the wet drink messes up the picture on the pretty side. The decoration is seen when the coaster is sitting on my end table in the coaster holder. I use the coaster on my computer table, which is not a surface that gets damaged, but I use the coaster so water doesn't run up under my pc and keyboard. Therefore, I've been using the corky side so teh water stays put. I wondered what the norm was. I use to argue with someone about this. :)

Hey that's good research there. Of course the one I have doesn't have any perrty pictures so it doesn't apply!

Speaking of important subjects, like I was saying before in another thread..er I think, anyway ANALTECH (r) has finally announced their latest highly secretive product that will revolutionize the anal products industry!

So choose ANALTECH products for your anal needs--"the logical choice".

In the 21st century, coasters have no cork or ceramics. Get with the program! :D

Well Eggy, at least it isn't a hard drive platter from a crashed hard drive. I actually have one sitting around which I haven't used as a coaster...yet. I'm still not sure whether or not I should cross into that "OMG OMG U R A HARDCORE GEEK" type boundary yet. I think it's a one way trip. :D

the ceramic wicks water away from the glass, the cork protects the table and prevents sliding...

I said decoration side but my costars don’t really have a decoration. They are wood with a cork bottom and the top recesses down some and there is more cork there. So really I use BOTH but then again I am sick and think this kind looks better then the ceramic ones with the ugly designs on the. I know I am sick. My Shrink said not to come back.

Actually..some coaters are indeed designed with a corky side to set your drink on. I had some cheap platic ones that had cork on the top and on the bottom..but the cork did start warping after a time do to me drunkenly sloshing my drink...

It depends what type of drink it is.

If it is a beer, I never set it down :)

That'd be funny if archeologists of the future thought cds were exclusivly used for that purpose.... :D
