I agree and protect every ones right to protest, but come one people there is a time and a place. This is unfair to the kids that have nothing to do with this at all. (Mind you I also think it’s unfair to the kids who are) I would hope the City does not allow them to protest to close to the graduation. I would have been pissed if on my graduation Video you could hear shit like that.

The WBC members want to protest in response to the resignation of one of the teachers who told a student that "hanging out with homosexuals is just as bad as being one". They city was actually trying to persuade the students to call off the counter protest - they did not, from what I read, ask WBC to call of thier protest.

You are talking about a state that tried to ban the teaching of Darwinian evolution. Nothing suprises me from that state. Kansas is bass ackwards.

I love that stuff. My highschool campus was a "closed" one, meaning that if you don't go there then the cops will throw you off. They wouldn't even let me visit my former teachers a year later just to say hi. Anyway, every single morning before school, a dozen kids gathered outside for a prayer circle, led by some adult who wasn't from the school. Someone got offended that organized religion was alowed to practice on public property (featuring people who didn't go to the school, no less) and complained. Of course, being Texas, the school did nothing. So a smartass kid passed out fliers that there would be a "Satanic Prayer Circle" the following week at the same time as the Christian one. Of course there were no real Satanists, but you wouldn't believe the amount of adults that showed up on campus to join with the Christian prayer circle to LOUDLY shout their prayers (whereas the other group just stood at the flagpole with some literature). Natch- the school didn't remove the Christian protesters (who were a potential danger to the students seeing as how the closed campus policy existed to prevent situations like that), but the dozen or so "Satanic Prayer Circle" people (who were all students) were forced off the property by security and then detained by the cops for not being on school grounds during school.

Um, why is it that every time I post that link that the containing thread comes to a screeching halt? Truth hurts that much or what?

*shrug* Because you aren't going to convince anyone, basicly. As a gay man raised by Christian parents who refused to indoctrinate me into one church or religion, and let me come to my beliefs entierly on my own (And I think my faith is stronger for it), I've noticed that people basicly fall into three groups when it comes to christianity and homosexuality:

1: Those who basicly think along the lines of that article posted (me, for example)

2: Those who may think being gay is a sin, but are firm believers in the love of god and loving the sinner while hating the sin. This would be my folks, sadly. It's better than step three, though...

3: Those who for one reason or another fall into the same mindset as these wackos, albiet normally not to near such a degree... Most are quite content to be basicly silent assholes, occasionaly spouting there opinion when the topic comes up, but not doing the kind of crap these nuts do. Sadly, there are far too many of this group yet.

3 can never be convinced of 1. Ever. Most of them are "blind faith" types who have never, ever examined their faith. They can't, because most of them have been indoctrinated into that mindset by their parents, and their parents before them. 3 can occasionaly be convinced of 2, but it takes having a very close loved one or friend turn out gay. More commonly, 3 simply stay 3 and reject the friend / loved one, but sometimes miracles happen.

Well, I take it back. 3 can kinda go to step 1, but it requires basicly a total obliteration of their faith from the founding levels and a rebuilding. These rare cases tend to spend a time as athiest or agnostic after becoming dissilusioned with their old faith, and some of them never go further than that, but a rare few will eventually come back to some level of christianity.

Howard Stern has had the God Hates ……… people on. They have Sweden, Fags, and allot more. The woman has her kids come on with. I have NEVER heard so much HATE and I have been nose to nose yelling with KKK members. Her hatred is not really of people of homosexuality but of the fact that she has sad unloved life.

They picketed a dear friend of mine's funeral in the early 90s with signs like "fags burn in hell" (just what grieving family members need to see). As they were doing this, they had a woman with a video camera and a gleeful smile videotaping the emotional damage they caused. These people should be jailed and given serious doses of psychotherapy to deal with their obvious sociopathy.
