The plan is for [probe] Hayabusa to depart [asteroid] Itokawa carrying onboard samples of asteroid Itokawa, and then head back to Earth. If that probe brings back cheese puff samples, it may confirm past rumors that our moon is made of cheese! ![]() ![]() _____________________

The samples it will bring back are going to contain Mothra eggs!!!! Then we'll have to ask Godzilla for his help again... and he's getting grouchy in his old age! ![]() P2 _____________________

Now I feel the urge for a nice Japanese dinner coming on for tonight. Anyway, definitely cool stuff. I'm not sure what the benefit of bringing back a piece of an asteroid is, other than the triumph of the technical feat for its own sake, since it's already pretty clear what asteroids are made of, but it's still pretty cool. _____________________

I thought it had twofold neatoness. Firstly bringing back a piece of a really foreign world and not just moon cheese. Secondly it's the Japanese Space agency doing it and not one of the big 3! Major accomplishment for JAXA?? IMHO. _____________________

I have serious misgivings about how most of Michael Crichton's novels are about how technology is evil and is coming to destroy the world. Has he written one on the danger of virtual worlds yet? Undoubtedly it will involve the FIC making AI vendors to sell their goods and handle land sales, but then the bots turn on them and nobody can tell who is friend or who is bot... not even the FIC. Be careful who you cyber... _____________________

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS! |

By the way--other than an asteroid, what does that asteroid look like? Come on, I know someone noticed by now. And all I have to say about it is that the Japanese CONTINUE to be the weirdest people on the planet, proof once again...
And did anyone else notice how closely this thread inspires thought of the phrase "ass probe"? As a shortened name I mean. Don't ask me to translate it into Japanese though. I'm not sure what I'm typing anymore, so I'm going to go to sleep. Nights.. ![]() _____________________
