With the sucess of the Gratis network and pressure from those outside the US, it was inevitable that the offer of a free ipod or ipod mini would be opened up to those in Canada and the UK. If you are in Canada or the UK or the US (obviously) all you have to do is sign up at freeiPods.com and choose your country to get started. It does require that you sign up to one of their offers alothough currently a few freebies to sign up to. Then you need to refer 5 people to sign up and try the site too... So if you are interested in getting a ipod 20gb or ipod mini have a look at.. http://www.freeipods.comJamie.

Yay, got 5 people to sign up to the freeipods.com site. So hopefully I should receive my free ipod in the next few weeks! I signed up for a free offer to complete the deal and so hopefully this won't have cost me anything, except my time... If you are having login troubles, why not spend a five minutes and sign up too Jamie /me is off to look at the other gratis network sites now

While it's legit, this challenged in court would be ruled a Ponzi scheme, plain and simple.
You don't get something for nothing. Expect higher amounts of spam in your email and snail mail. GO you. Now you can pay $1 a song instead of getting a different mp3 player and Napster for $15/month for unlimited songs (which iPod is incompatible with).

I agree on the spam mail, but at least I've signed up with a free email account. As for extra postal junk mail, I guess it just a matter of time. If it doesn't turn up I guess I will be mad, but then again it didn't cost me anything. If it does turn up I will reply to the thread... interested if anyone else here signed up and actually received their ipod after getting the 5 referrals? Jamie.

If you are having login troubles, why not spend a five minutes and sign up too Jamie /me is off to look at the other gratis network sites now I've signed up for this too. It's apparently legitimate (see BBC Article or wired article) I signed up for a free DVD rental offer (1 month or 5 discs free), which can be cancelled after getting credit for the offer on free ipods. The major problem I have is getting the referrals - in order to get the free ipod, I need to convince 5 people to sign up and complete 1 offer. I don't want to spam people & I also think people are mistrustful in case of scams My referral linkThere are sites out there that explain how they make money out of this, and it's true that you are likely to be spammed. (I created a throwaway email address specifically for this, but so far haven't received a single mail) I propose that, if others sign up and are looking for referrals then their links should all be posted in the same thread (whether it be this or a new thread), to avoid 'spamming' the forums with these links

That's a completely different site/company!!! The freeipods.com offer requires only that you complete one of the offers and then refer 5 friends to do the same - there is no waiting list system or purchase of electronics, as they company described in the the guardian article used. This guide explains more about the Gratis/Freeipods.com offer: Yet another Guide to Freeipods.com

Yep. I know they're different. Relax.
Was just a reminder that there are plenty of people scamming using similar-looking offers. Heck, just look at freeipod.org. Looks legit too. But those Terms could get people in trouble pretty quick.

How is this different from the other 5000 emails a day I get for a free PS3/Xbox/$250 Gift Card/Laptop/etc? Seems to me its the difference between you completeing 6 offers or you conning your friends to do 5 of the offers for you. *shrug* I joined Columbia House this way, and got a $50 Gift Card to Red Lobster. I buy a DVD set I was gonna get anyways, and I get a free meal. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing special about it either, tho.
