I was chatting with a couple of not so newbie avatars last night and the idea of an area where we can hang out was suggested.

This way we can create and script and chat without interfering or adding to the confusion of those brand new and just arriving for the first time.

It was also suggested that the land be "public" or Lindenly funded so to speak, with avatars still having the ability to create. Maybe some public structures too?

Alternatively, we could just have a 'scripting circle' and visit eacth other's places.. ;)

Good Idea

Either of these are good ideas.

These notes, let me throw out a couple of ideas.

There is new land west. Only a few people have claimed plots there, and only a few rudamentary structures have been built. I'll have Governor Linden claim a section of beach front, and build a small platform there to start with.

Elsewhere, there is the governors mansion on the big hill. That can also be used as a meeting place, and should be viewed as a place for public gatherings.

On the newbie entrance area, we are working on improving it so it isn't such a cattle corral.

This sound good to everyone?

what about a 'city' center on a diff sim?
or an ampitheatre?
or beachfront bungalow if ya desire..
it should be able to accomodate a small crowd
I'm at work so I can't expand too much right now. If you are interested buzz me inworld. =)

Charlie Omega created this really cool "lab" that was built for this purpose.

If you see Charlie or me, ask for directions!

Flyk,

A city center is a great idea.

The sim Charlie built the lab on is a nice one, has some really nice landscaping....

I like the ampitheater also

A nicely shaped space like a ampitheater would be good for letting everyone see what was going on in front - great for scripting demos - also if things could be created on the "stage" and in the area around it - but not in the seats. This would be great for non distracting lecture type demos. Then there could be areas around it - where everyone there could all create - that would be great for workshop like demos
