While it may sound funny, I'd caution against impressions because my biological Dad, who also came from China as jin says he does, used to talk similarly (before he died, anyway)... so I know what that's like. My Dad used to have problems saying things like "African-American" so he'd struggle and mouth it out, "AFRERICANS!" and he used to shout "GET IT DONE!" all the time. He'd also pronounce "zero" like "JEEERO" and the whole switch R's and L's thing... LOLEX. My Dad also messed up swears a lot... so when he was trying to insult people, he'd mix the words around and say something like... well, like jin does.
While it has its charm and it's fine to have a sense of humor, I'm not keen of possibly making a mockery of someone who's come to SL to put their best foot forward unless they say it's okeydokey. I realize it's a curiosity and odd, like some sort of avatar freakshow...... but then again, I can relate.

From: katykiwi Moonflower When an ESL scribe screws up the basics, they certainly miss subtle details such as contractions that include the apostrophe. They also tend to omit articles to introduce a noun, which this post does include (ie: A SCRIPT.) Dead giveaways that this author does, in fact, know correct grammatical usage and is putting us on: From: jin Grupt Didn't A Script It's Can't That's I 'll
Genuinely cant speak good english or is he having us on?

I'd err on the side of caution because I've known quite a few exceptions to those "rules". One point my Dad brought up to me was confusing pronouns, since Chinese doesn't have them like English does... he'd call women "he" a lot, LOL -- of course, the thing is that isn't true of all experiences. Learning language, like anything else, is quite a unique thing for the individual.
Even if it's one big joke, it's nice to ask first before everyone bursts out in laughter.

Torley, I know what you're saying about your Dad and I'm sorry you lost him. My mom is Korean and even though she's been in this country (US) for 30 years, she still struggles with pronunciation (good word for the tion ion thread). I am ashamed that in my youth I was embarrassed, but I think it was because for so many years I was the only asian kid in my school and the kids were merciless. Now I think it's cute, imagine a korean accent speaking english with a southern accent tacked on for good measure.
Here's something you CAN laugh at. My first Husband is named Ray Laper (if you know him I'm sorry) my mom couldn't pronounce it in that order, still can't... she always says Lay Raper... or when she speaks to him (he and I have a daughter so couldn't sever all ties) She calls him Lay..tooooo funny.

If it's real, that's cool, but you have to consider what some of the first posts looked like. If your English is that bad, I think I can safely say that poetry (or some form of it)....is not the best of ideas. But I'm a fan!

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

I'm a fan too, I just keep hearing my mom's broken english in a korean southern accent reading it out loud like some bohemian coffee house poetry reading night. Oh no I'm laughing too hard again.
