So here is my story....

Yesterday I was down to $229 and on my next payday, which is Saturday 5/31, it showed i owed about $1500 more tax than my stipend. Know that running aroung with a minus in cash on hand is no fun, I decided to sell some stuff. I sold off one whole property and all of the items that were on it. When I logged out last night I had just over $5000 in cash.

Today I log on and check my account. My stipend stayed the same, but my tax WENT UP !!! How the hell did that happen ????????

This, added to the flustration of the new sim thing, is just about all I care to take. Isn't this game supposed to be fun ?? What am I missing??

Would a Linden please explain to me how my tax went up after selling land ??? I am so confused.

I'm looking into this now, but I'm pretty sure that your predicted tax just isn't fully up to date. This may be due to a bug in the tax assesor.

Wow! Under certain circumstances, the tax assessor (which runs every night BTW) decides to use data that's as much as 24 hours old. So, you taxes should indeed go down but the assessor hasn't noticed that yet. I'll fix this now, so your taxes should be correct tomorow morning.

Thank you SO much for a quick responce Ian. So what your saying is, the night before my taxes, I really don't know what will be taken out?? It sure is hard to plan.

That's truly sad that you have to have such little money, You got it right about the fun factor this game is not fun when any taxes come along. I guess in time everyone will see that and things will change.

It's still true that the night before you pay taxes, you have only an estimate from last night of what will be taken out. So, if you delete or create alot on that day, your estimate will cease to be accurate.

I know that tracking your total tax in real time would be better, but doing it accurately is a significant technical challenge so I don't think we're going to be able to do it soon. It is possible though, so... someday. For the time being though you can always find out taxes on objects and land by selecting them, to get some idea of how much they're affecting your tax payment.

Today is payday, thanks to whatever you Linden guys are doing, I had NO idea what was going to happen. So, holding my breath I logged in and guess what ??

I LOST 5000 DOLLARS ! ? ! ? ! ? ! ? ! ?

I have been playing this games for almost 6 months and NEVER lost any where close to that kind of money. I even sold and deleted over half of my land and objects this week, just so I could loose this kind of money ???

My stipend decreased by over $5000 OVERNIGHT !!!

How can this happen ???

Please do something.......one more week like this and I might as well not be playing. How many people can afford to loose $5000 a week ???

I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again......this "game" is rapidly becoming not fun.

See my post in another thread.

Tracey, your stipend was $5229 lower than last week, which is not as it should be. I'm still trying to figure out why this happened but I am sure it's a one-time event.

Catherine,

I would have responded by e-mail, but we don't seem to have a valid e-mail address on file for you.

It looks like you have a lot of light objects. These are more expensive in taxes than other objects. You might want to delete some of them to lower your taxes.

Your tax and stipend information is listed under Account History on the Edit menu.

Just wanting to make sure a wierd thought just hit me. We are not paying Taxes on stuff in our inventory are we. And someone mentioned that the size of an item is going to determine the taxes on it, Is that true?

You pay taxes on items that are inworld, not in inventory. Taxes are paid based on how long it's been inworld (for that week) so putting everything away come tax day is not a cheat that works. You may save a little for that small amount of time you put it away but the amount is not worth the trouble.

Prims are indeed taxed on their size and its height inworld. If your taxes are really high and shouldnt be, consider you may have lost a prim(or more) in the sky. Look for blue dots on the map for big items.
Light also raises taxes on a prim.
