Vive L'Evolution?

Hi everyone,

I could be wrong, but I believe that Vive La Evolution should be Vive L'Evolution because of the vowel. Can anyone with better French back me up?

It's meant to look like "vive la revolution".
Besides, I always thought the l' contraction isn't mandatory. It's just the french being lazy :)
Americans do many such contractions every day, like "outta", "gonna" etc.
Personally I don't see what SL has to do with left wing revolutionaries...
