I've read of a few donation pots to help Katrina victims. As one of the major day traders on GOM I'd like to offer my services (and trader tier) to convert to US$ for you.
Obviously I'll do this at zero commision, the rate you see will be the rate you get.
If anyone is interest please reply to this thread.
As a note to everyone else, the higher the L$ value, the more US$ will be raised... Go buy those L$ and help the Katrina appeals by raising the L$ value.

I respect what you are doing, but I have to ask - isn't getting the money to aid organizations the most important? If people are buying L$ just to donate, they should just be donating the USD directly, it will be more effective. Even a small amount of overhead adds up - it seems a mistake to take USD and convert it to weak L$ just to convert it back to USD.

What I meant was that if people in general, especially those who have no intention of donating to charity, started buying L$ instead of dumping them, then we can get the L$ to rise and get more US$ for the donations...
Re-reading my post in light of the way you read it, I see what you mean... I didn't intend "Go buy those L$ and then donate them...." simply buy L$ so we push the price up a little for when the donations are cashed out.
Does that make more sense?

Pathfinder Linden has set up an account to receive funds. Lindens can not convert L$ to US$ so I'm helping with that part.  I have a script that will donate to this account, and several Lindens have the password, so you can be sure its above the table. Its the same account we used for Relay For Life. If anyone wants a copy of the script, just ping me in world! Thank you to Jamie and Tom at GOM for setting up this account fee-free.
