I was going to post this story in the other Land Mistake thread, but it has been closed.

So here is the story....

This morning I made a mistake pricing some land. This had nothing to do with the software interface. Even as the other contrvery was swirling in my head, I made a mistake. Instead of pricing a parcel of land at 10,240, I dropped a zero and set it for 1024.
About a half hour later, the property was bought for 1024 dollars. But this dark cloud had a silver lining ...... an upstanding SL resident. I'd love to mention thats persons name, but not sure how that would be intrepreted under TOS rules. Anyway this person immediately recognized my error, bought the land, set it back to sale in my name at 1024 dollars and IM'd me to inform me of the error. After reading the whole story of the other big recent land sale error, I was amazed and refreshed by this persons honest and unselfish action!!
After all, he had the chance to stick a "land baron" in the shorts and laugh about it all the way to the bank!!! So I would like to applaude DR ............ loudly and longly for being a true good samariton and upstanding SL citizen. HERE HERE!!!!!

Lindens.... It is ok to post an AV's name in a situation like this?

It is never ok to post an avatar's name. It is also not ok to complain about random crap in the forums. It is explicitly forbidden to repost an issue on a different thread when the other thread was closed.

I would imagine that if he was posting about the original topic of the thread that was closed - the specific person's situation from that thread - then yeah, it would be against the forum rules. <--just how I interpreted it

Good to hear there are good samaritans out there, Philo. :D

I admire whoever it was who did the right thing. It's much more pleasant to be an honest person than a thieving money grabbing you know what.

i think posting a name, if you get the person's permission and it's a positive thing, is ok, but one never knows. did you get an answer?

Wonderful to hear that the situation was rectified and that the person did the honorable and right thing. And I believe it is definitely ok to post a persons name if you aren't attacking them. Posting an AVs name in a thank you is a great thing to do.

Its hard to keep track of what to post where, to my cost it appears you cant post anonymous chat logs or even single line quotes here yet if you look at ben lindens profile it seems you can post full names conversations there.

The last thing i would of thought you could do is post names here and im i guessing others thought the same by not doing so.

I still think its good to get permission to post the name though.

Anyway back to watching hotline to see how sasi's begs for contact go unforfilled.
