I actually have no interest in this myself but a friend suggested it would be cool if it was possible to watch television in SL. Upon questioning him of course what he meant was he would like to watch live NFL games in SL with a bunch of guys, in a sports bar, while the women busied themselves bringing them beers just like we do in first life.
I told him it was impossible but I would still serve the beers.

I'm not currently satisfied with QuickTime, and hope there will be extensions in the future that can play the more common Windows Media-compatible streams... and, uh, RealPlayer too if need be, I guess.

Watch with a PC's tv card, use S-Video out to connect it to a Mac running Quicktime Broadcaster, send the stream up to Darwin Streaming Server and then relay it out for all to enjoy.
However, I don't think it is legal to do that for an NFL game (and most tv I would assume).
