What do you all think about the “Hot Coffee” and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) & Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.) coming down on the game manufacture? Could this leak over to SL?

I am sorry I didn’t see that. Post or I would have said something. I would love to see what people have to say. Will the Conservatives that backed Ashcroft and his anti-pornography back Clinton? Will the Liberals that were antic Ashcroft and his anti- pornography also go after Clinton? Me I think both are wrong and we should not have the federal government involved in our entertainment. I for one will police my own game play and the game play of my child.

Honestly, I think this is much ado about nothing.

If anything, maybe it will get some people to see how hypocritical the whole situation is.

This game is rating 17+ yes? This was obviously a bad business decisions and you have to wonder how it snuck in, but WoW it's one hell of an easter egg for hackers.

Imagine what these people would think if they found out some 18+ people play SL mostly for the hot coffee.

They would probably think: "Welcome to the Internet."

From what I have read it's a down load. So I don't see the problem. You have to go out and look for it.

I agree that this is much ado about nothing, but the developers were complete idiots to try and pretend that the hack inserted the content rather than just opened up content that was already in the source. It's already been proven that was a bald faced lie. If they want to do stuff like this in games I don't have a problem with it. What I do have a problem with is developers talking out of both sides of their mouths. They should have admitted it outright and defended it as legitimate free speech. By lying about it they only empower those that want to legislate computer games.

So if Hot Coffee equals Sex, what does a Mocha Latte equal?

One of the gamer sites did a check (sorry, don't have a link). According to them it isn't downloaded "content"; the mod iirc merely automates installing the access codes (available elsewhere) that allow players to see the "hot coffee" action that's normally not viewable.

More interesting to me was some "expert" on the ABC News last week, appalled and wanting to warn everyone that maybe, just maybe, games could be Modified to allow pornography. Do tell.

I stand corrected. What I don’t get is why every one is getting so worked up about this game. ESRB gave it a rating of Mature (17+) for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs. So what is the problem? No child would be buying it from any store I know of. I am 32 and I get carded for buying games like this at EB, GameStop, and Wal-Mart. So really what is the problem? If a parent gives it to there child then that is the parents responsibility not the governments.

I agree but why is it people are not yelling for them to sit down and shut up? Oh wait people who disagree with this and are democrats will still just vote for her any ways. People who are good moralist Christians will maybe vote for her too. This is a move to get in the light to run to be president. I for one don’t want Clinton in the white house. The fact is we need to stand up and tell them how we really feel about the anti-adult ideas they have.

There really are no alternatives in the major parties. They all use these kinds of cheap issues to score political points. The simple fact of the matter is that people like you and I who see it as a non-issue exploited for political gain are in the minority. Most eat this crap up with a spoon. It's the same reason the drug war is still going on despite it being such a dismal failure. Being tough on drugs "for the sake of the children" still sells.

I agree the only thing I seen wrong with your statement was “major parties” I think it should have been “major party” after all I don’t see a difference between them. They use the same tired line. Protect the children yet that is not there job that is mine (for my child yours for your child). I for one will never vote for the R&D again.

In our mixed-up society, portraying somebody being beaten to death with a baseball bat is more acceptable than openly showing sex. That is, if you'll pardon my language, totally fucked up.

Hillary is off-base on this one, but it'll play well with the computer illiterates who think the major market for video games is still teenagers, and who believe that sex is a more abhorrant ingredient in a game than murder.

Problem is the Democrats are going after the game for the sex. The Republicans are going after it for the violence. I just saw about 2 weeks ago a Republican Senator wants to band violent games like that. I seen it on G4. I look at this way if taking a bat to some one in a game will stop you from taking a bat to some one in real life go for it (it has worked well for me). If going and getting laid by 100 different chicks in a game is going to keep you from going out and fucking 100 chicks and knocking some up or getting something and spreading it around I say go for it.

I never wanted the game. After all this I think I am going to go get it this weekend.
