are there any zones without any rules so that i may grief or annoy people for fun?
if there are none, i would like to suggest being able to in mature areas, the areas with porn everywhere because if they allow porn they should allow some griefing.

Under Thirty - all areas of Second Life fall under the Community Standards - which do not allow griefing. There are "unsafe" places where you are able to engage in first person shooter type activity such as Jessie and Rausch.

I understand your feelings of deprivation, Under Thirty.
What you need is a licence to abuse, trample, and pursue someone, without them knowing youre coming, or that its you that is after them. Seems impossible, but it isn't. Contact Deevyde Maelstrom, and the Brainiacs group. They may still be running their SL version of the game "Assassins" in which you are randomly assigned another participant, and given a week to track, hunt, and assassinate them. Another unidentified participant is after you of course. The "kill" is required to demonstrate style, humour, and elegance, rather than violence. But it was still great fun. Ask if it's still going, or when the next round is planned. |

Might I suggest the free trial to THERE? It's way more fun than Second Life...as is TSO. You should go check them out...like..soon..real soon. _____________________

Actually, a private sim where "anything goes" might be a big draw.
Imagine the weapons sales in a sim like that. Give the people what they want, and all....and if there was a place where you could get your griefing jollies out, would that help the overall griefing situation in the rest of SL? Just thinkin'... _____________________

Az, if you voluntarily go to a sim where you know it's "anything goes" then it ceases to be griefing.
Under Thirty, thanks for coming out so early and letting me know that I should put you on ignore. _____________________

Barmovic's suggestion is probably the best. I agree that sounds like fun, but again - if it's voluntary, it ceases to be griefing. ![]() _____________________

Az, if you voluntarily go to a sim where you know it's "anything goes" then it ceases to be griefing. Maybe it could be roleplayed griefing ? Just like people roleplay sick situations like rape in SL (or so I suppose some do) ; 2 consenting people could roleplay one griefing the other. That would be fascinating, as you wouldn't RP a RL situation in SL (classical), but a SL situation in SL ! Next you could RP with a few friends "crowded and laggy club", everybody would move in small steps and keep complaining they have 1 frame per second while in reality the lag would be fine. Or roleplay "newbies connect to SL for the first time", for people who want to experience the cabin on head problem again. Endless possibilities... _____________________

Yeah, true. I thought about that when I typed the last sentance. I get asked by a number of new people "Where can we go shoot stuff/people?" I tell 'em Jesse or Rauche (sp?) but I started thinking along the lines of a private sim specifically set up - with events and everything - for those wishing to get out a bit of aggression. Maybe secretly hire people to sit around and complain when they got shot at, to better replicate the griefing experience ![]() I know this is a total pipe dream and I'm not completely serious about it. Although it would be interesting to see if anyone ever eventually does this, just to see the results. _____________________

Under Thirty I understand where you are coming from but I suspect you don't actually want what you are asking for, especially since you too would be a target in such a zone. Unless you are the top dog scripter/griefer in the game of Second Life, such a sim would become boring to you as it devolves into a match between your "orbit everybody but me" script vs. someone elses. Or maybe it would be a game of who can bring down the sim the fastest after it recovers. You would eventually leave such a sim, or you would become an ironic advocate for setting new rules for your ruleless sim. Search your heart young padawan and I think you will find that what you actually want is the freedom to harass others while everybody else must abide by those harassment rules. _____________________

i think i'm looking for combat sims or places like Jessie, but i dont know what those are. are there any faqs or notes on them? Actually a notecard about combat sims is a great idea. No idea if one has been made up yet, tho. You can tp over to Jesse or Rauche - Jesse is a combat sim, you can buy/sell land there much like a regular sim, but it was specifically set up as a shoot-'em-up zone. It has a long and glorious history of drama, I think it was taken over by some WWII game refugees for a while. Rauche is a sandbox, like Cordova or Island Sandbox, but again it was specifically set up for shoot-'em-up action. I believe it was set up as a place for people to test their weapon projects out. I'm not sure I would personally recommend blasting away at random bystanders there, but there's fair warning posted all around the perimeters. Essentially, once you enter these sims, you're fair game. They are also mostly damage enabled so you can "die" there. If I got specifics wrong, please correct me. I've only been to these places a few times and the info I do know about them came from finding answers for new peeps that want to blast a bit but not get in trouble for it. _____________________
