Are websites like the one in the title legit? they ask for things like your username and password, but they have so many users it looks like it could be real, but... they could be stealing passwords, anyone have any info before i join and start using that website?

They are legit. I've used them for as long as they have been around. Good service!

I have just recently been enjoying and using SLExchange.com

I've made a few products and sold a very modest amount. They've been around for ages. I've also bought thing through them... the delivery is quick and I haven't experienced any problems. Although, I have seen unhappy customers have issues with non-delivery or dissastisfaction with goods. But, as with anything online -- buyer be ware.

Very legit, and I highly recommend SLExchange.com if you're selling things.

Cant speak for SLEX (although they have been around long enough without any major complaints about their usage), but as the co-owner of SecondServer.net, we've got about 2,000 registered users; we dont store passwords (we use a salted SHA256 hash to store the password in a way in which it cannot be retrieved.), I know FlipperPA of SLBoutique.com uses a salted MD5 hash (fairly similar) and has a similar number of users. -- Also, you dont use your Second Life login for your account password (we require you register a username unique on our system, SLBoutique does the same.)

Check all three sites for their Privacy Policies & Terms of Use; but generally speaking the third parties sites are reputable, and have been around for a while (SLEX & SecondServer have been running for over a year now)

Don't use your SL password for third-party sites. Even though they're trustworthy chaps and they have security in place, it's still wise to use different passwords just in case.

You know you don't enter your SL password, right? You're registering with them and creating a new password?

SLExchange is lots of fun to use. When you sell, you get to see how many people looked at which item, and there is a neat bar graph with views and sales recorded on it, and other things.
