I got hit by 12 e-mails as well...
Several of them had a picture from something called Avatarea.
One e-mail said "Sign up for a really secure new land of milk and honey".
I am only on the newsletter list... so, whoever runs this Avatarea hacked into Linden Labs' computers and accessed their e-mail lists. The e-mails that I got were from the address that Leo posted.
These guys are in for a world of legal hurt from Linden Labs, that's for sure.

For me, this is what looks like happened. LL sent out an email announcing the new website to everyone on the list without hiding (bcc) the listname. People then replied to the list and we all got a bunch of crap. Seems most got 12. If you got 80 I wonder.. do you have 7 accounts?  Looks like that listname needs to be renamed. Please bcc in the future. |

Yes, I got I think 11 emails. Most were about this Avatarea add. I just deleted them all and have not gotten any since.
