When you subtract all the ALTs, and abandoned accounts from 40,000-something SLers....what do we come up with?

When you subtract all the ALTs, and abandoned accounts from 40,000-something SLers....what do we come up with? A number somewhere between 4,000 and 40,000. With not a clue as to what it would be exactly. |

When you subtract all the ALTs, and abandoned accounts from 40,000-something SLers....what do we come up with? If i recall the 40000 is only the accounts that have been active within the last 3 months, so that discounts a large portion of abandoned accounts. if you take all the people who have alts (some lots of them) and then the people who dont have alts, i would guess the real number is around 20000 active accounts, also this last week we saw like 12000 unquie views on one particular thread, so i am thinking like 15000 recently acivte accounts if you take out the newbies who decided not to stay. Anyway this is all just one big guess! ![]() _____________________

Are you sure that it's only accounts that have been active in the past 3 months?

I think the number on the front page is *overall* ammount of accounts, not just the past 3 months or whatever. If you remember the page started out with a large number, not 0.
Without Alts? Uhh, well... I'd guess you'd subtract at the least 2k users. So maybe half or slightly over the number we have now. The Transaction number btw is the only number that is fake, the other two seem to be real (or atleast better randomly generated) ![]() _____________________

Overall, I think we have 100,000+ accounts.

Probably 35,000 without blaze's alts.
![]() Seriously though, I don't think it's possible to determine. _____________________

I believe Cid is referring to what Linden Lab has stated wrt how they determine the number of active accounts. I recall the same thing.
Likewise, the unique thread views caught my attention. More than I'd have expected tbh. |

Heres a suggestion:
Add the # of users, and logged in count, to the World Map. Why have it just on the website? Why not put it in the client somewhere? _____________________

...Or in the statistics bar.
Plus, it could probably be real-time to an extent that the website can't be. _____________________

I see no reason why not...
Also another thing I miss was being able to just hit the Online checkbox and leave the field blank and see who are the first 100 Residents, alphabetically speaking, online. Was more useful on the Preview grid with a much lower population, but I'd like to pull up a random list of Residents who are online. Maybe this is too much database load for today but ehhh I can dreaaam! _____________________

Hahahaha... sadly it looks so populated now, even relatively in the wee hours (it was about 3, 4 AM on SLtime), I don't wanna get in trouble. But that was sure an event... you and I were the only ones around, and we sat on the sign for awhile! I remember that very lucidly.

Somehow, I think the Lindens would be more understanding with Torley. It's not good business to ban a community figure.
