I've got tons of music, and am interested in possibly becoming an SL DJ. Can anyone tell me exactly what's involved. What equipment I need, etc.
I didn't see a thread for this, but if there is, just link me to it.
Thanks!

well you really don't become a SL DJ.
There are stations that you can dj for that a lot of the DJ's play SL. You also have the option of getting your own stream and dj'ng there as well. The specifics of dj'ing can be found at www.shoutcast.com or www.winamp.com. I will use this as an opportunity to plug a couple of stations I know DJ's or owners of, you can talk to these people in world to get more information about starting to DJ. Diamon Edge, HunterLee Rutledge, or Ginin Tonic - www.heatradio.fm Taylor Hope or Gabe Fitzsimmons - www.misfitsradio.com Bianca Baggio - www.twisterradio.com Nudie Tonic - I think he is with wickedkarma...I am not sure, I just know he dj's..LOL. Most stations will welcome new dj's with open arms and give the training you need to get you set up and playing. Good luck ![]() woops, equipment needed is a computer with mp3s, broadband connection and they can get you set up with the SAM3 software to broadcast ![]() |

Thanks Blayze!
I've seen that most people use a pre-existing radio stream. But I've been to some places with a live DJ, and wondered exactly what was involved. Thanks so much for the info. This was a great help. |

well they use the pre-existing streams because they have continual music.
Land owners can set their audio stream to whatever station they like. Some places/sims have sponsored radio stations or they have their own stations. like South I-which is one i forgot to put on the list, too, whoops..LOL So when you see a live DJ there, a lot of the time the land owner will change the stream while the DJ is there and maybe change it to another stream later. Or they will leave it on the station, it just depends. I dj'd for awhile and now I am on extended break, but i found that people LOVED having live dj's in there instead of the 'canned' music. and yvw, if you need anymore help, just hit me up in world ![]() |
