Anyone intend on playing Matrix Online? I've recently tried: Lineage2, Everquest2, World of Warcraft, and City of Hero's. I found them all rather boring, repetitive and totally devoid of a social network.
Is Matrix Online going to be any different?

I play as sciatica on Regression.
I enjoy the game, but I am only a veteran of Motor City Online (which I loved) and Anarchy Online (which I didn't like so much).
The social stuff in MxO is there if you want it. You can join one of three factions, do pick up missions with your group, there are nightclubs where people hang out, dance and chat. RadioFreezion.com has dj's that play and they have Matrix themed music and banter. This game has the weight of the whole philosophy and story of the movies behind it, so folks seem to be very invested in the world.
Everyone seems friendly right now.
If anyone is playing as a female, let me know. I get a ton of female buffed clothes that I end up selling. I would be glad to pass it on.

I wasn't too impressed with it myself during beta, I could only play it for an hour or so before it got boring to me. Then I'd go back to World of Warcraft and play it for hours. I might try it in a few months after seeing how it does.

I tired the beta and I found it to be quite boring and hard to control... wasn't impressed

I played MxO for a while during the beta. It was OK. The gameplay itself wasn't all that groundbreaking, although they got the look down perfect. (The bullet time moves are awesome to watch.) What stood out for me was the skills system. You're not fixed in one character development path. Skills are changeable at any time, provided you have money and access. You can be a hacker one day, a patcher (healer) the next, a martial artist the day after that. Very adaptable. Beyond that, the game didn't really grab me by the throat and yell "PLAY ME!" I'm still playing World of Warcraft for my monster-bashing and PvP needs. ... although, lately, SL definitely has grabbed me by the throat and yelled "PLAY ME!" multiple times.

I played the beta & have no plans to continue. Too bad too because I was really looking forward to it. I didnt care for the look or play of it.

I'm on Regression as Damsel. I like it a lot. It gets laggy sometimes though, and something that really annoys me is how in combat you can fight an even con one minute and completely win no problem, and the next minute go against the same level enemy and lose 13 rolls in a row and die. Still, I really like the matrix universe so i'll give it a chance for a little while.

Briana Dawson I played the MxO stress2 to see if it was gonna be anything cool.. and sadly it really isn't IMO. It's all turn-based RPS combat with skill-tree modifier system. The missions are pretty much "run here, double click that, kill those." Though the concept is neat and you might be enough of a fan to stick through the inanely simple gameplay to get the story elements...

I am playing as Optimus on Method. MxO is certainly one of the best looking MMORPGs I have played. Once I have gotten used to the fighting system, it works well. I also did not fully understand the need to upgrade my stats after levelling up until I kept getting defeated. The game has some problems, but hopefully Monolith can get most of the major ones fixed soon. Also, if you play the game, be sure to listen to Radio Free Zion http://www.radiofreezion.com while playing. They announce when their DJs are at a club partying and also announce when and where movie characters are appearing in the game.

I know a guy who plays The Matrix Online some and he says that only like 7 out of 19 servers are even open a couple of weeks after starting. Seems to me its not doing very well or not as well as they thought it would. But of course there are a lot of people still playing WoW so that could be why its servers don't have more being used.

I've cancelled my account, but the monthly payment went through before I could, so I still have a month left. That thing I mentioned up above about an even level enemy being able to win all the rolls? Yeah, it's happened too often for me to have fun playing anymore. Plus past level 10 it's nearly impossible to get a mission where the entrance(s) aren't next to enemies 6-7 levels above you. In missions, frequently 3-4 enemies spawn in the same room and all agro on you at once when you walk by... wouldn't be a problem if the combat system didn't lock you into combat with only one, so it's nearly impossible to fight more than two enemies without dying (also add in the combat rolls thing and it doesn't matter what level the enemies are.)
Socially, the game is either hardcore roleplayer, casual funtime gamer, or stupid mentally 6 years old powergamer. I fall into the second category, so it's hard for me to find groups or even people who will talk to me at all.

I just read that Sony Online has bought The Matrix Online from Monolith and that they will also help license the upcoming DC Comics' MMORPG. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20050617/en_nm/media_superheroes_dc

Yeah, they will be adding it to the Station Pass in a couple of months. Maybe this will get some new blood into the game.

My impression from Beta. I didn't play for long.

I tried it in beta

it was ok for the so and so usual run around and level up kind of games. It did have some nice features that have already been posted, but in my eyes it could get tiresome within a month and thier monthly price was just to high for that.
