Why your card was deleted...

My apologies to the 300+ people whose Calling Cards I deleted. It had nothing to do with you, and was NOT what I wanted to happen.

I had a bit of an accident while trying to alphabetize my cards. Since I had more than 300 cards, it was impossible to actually USE them when it took me several minutes to drag anything to a particular card. So, I reasoned, I should simply divide them into folders, like ABC, DEF, GHI, etc..

It didn't happen that way. Since there is currently no way to make an extended selection, you have to ctl-click each item. Then, you have to Copy, then you Delete (so you don't have to RE-select them all later to Delete them THEN), then you Paste into the ABC folder.

Believe it or not, even with the danger inherent in Deleting BEFORE you Paste, I got everything in the folders I wanted. Life was sweet. I went about the town to explore. Bought some stuff. Located some friends (using my handy alphabetized cards!) and even contemplated the small bug that makes the same name show up twice in the map locator pulldown, if you have a copy in two different folders under Calling Cards.

At some point, however, I decided to empty the trash. Remember that the trash is now full of all those duplicate cards I deleted as I copied each group into a sub-folder.

Shortly thereafter, I got the first IM asking me if someone had done something to offend me. I've been getting those ever since. :-( I checked, and EVERY single card was gone from the Alphabetical folders and the trash.

So, no. I was not offended by any of you fine folks. It was an accident brought about by an interface feature that hasn't been implemented yet, coupled with some sort of issue with the nature of calling cards in particular.

Please feel free to exchange cards with me whenever you see me. And I apologize for having to bother you to exchange cards a second time.

Wow. 300+ cards. :-(

Awww, poor thing :/

I wondered too, what I'd done to offend you... glad to know I didn't do anything. Wish I could share my calling cards with you to help you rebuild your collection.

Well, it was fun the first time around. It should be fun the second. Thanks for understanding. If anyone asks, let them know it was un-intentional.

Next question... will I get to stay on the weekly leader boards because of all the cards I have to re-trade?

hehe

After much effort trying to reproduce this, we've found the exact recipe. It seems that if you have any calling cards in your trash which are not another folder somewhere in your inventory, then emptying your trash will delete all cards that appear in your trash - regardless of the fact that they may still have a copy in your calling cards folder. There must have been a set of cards that you forgot to paste into a sub-folder and the cancellation ensued

Sadly, there is no way we can automatically reconstruct your calling cards, so you will just have to re-trade them.

During your next calling card organization, I suggest using drag and drop or cut and paste rather than copy, delete, paste.

This will be fixed in a future release - hopefully the next one.

I see. So if there was ONE card that I actually DID delete, and it was in the trash along with the ones I DIDNT want to disappear completely, then - once I empty trash - they ALL go, along with the copies I filed elsewhere?

THAT's a sweet bug :-)

Anyway, no problem now. As I gather, I just slide them ionto the proper folder.

Thanks for chasing that one down :-)
