With the new fixed land prices at $48 per square of land, some of us who bought overly expensive land previous to patch 0.5.0 may get quite a tidy sum of money through selling then re-buying our own land! After selling my 4x12 and 4x7 chunks of land, then reclaiming them, I came out with a profit of over $3,000! I talked with a couple of Lindens to make sure this was prudent and they gave me the go ahead to let you all know! This may be a serious jump-start to the economy which... well... I don't think it was in need of it, but it got one anyway ;-)

PS: I heard that perhaps some people bought land previous to the patch at prices lower than $48 per square. Try to make sure you'll get a profit out of reclaiming your land before actually doing so, you don't want to lose money off of land that was cheaper than it is now!

Have fun! :D

Yeah, pre .5.0 land prices went up the more land on a server was bought. Which besides contradicting the whole neighbor discount to some degree, caused real problems on full or almost full sims. So they 'standardized' prices. If you payed more than the $48 per square, then you can get some of your money back by selling and reclaiming. If you paid less, then you should probably hold onto it. :D

Another tip that I -think- works (I havn't tested) is if you bought your plot of land when no one was around, and then a bunch of people move in around you, you should be able to sell and reclaim for a small amount of whatever change in your neighbor discount there is. This might also effect taxes, I'm not sure how dynamic that system is, which would be the real reason to consider this I think. In any case the gain would probably be small unless you were the first to move in on a now crowded area of a sim.

I noticed the price difference the other night, but I honestly didn't put it together until you just mentioned it. I just figured I'd scored some really, really cheap land, haha.

But yeah... I just released and rebought all my original (pre 0.5.0) land.. Got a healthy chunk of change back for it.

EASILY the best tip I've gotten so far. :D

Cheers, Dave!

Yes thank you soooo much Dave again. I got about 3000 SL dollars from rebuying most of my land. That money was much needed after I threw all mine in that well lol.
