I love you truely
Oh yes I do
I love you bunches
Because you're terrific!

I posted my building problem (things going phantom) in the hotline place and LO AND BEHOLD Lindens popped in and answered me, and even said if those weren't the reasons (and they aren't), that one of them would come in the game and check it out for me. And they answered another question for me once before.

You guys have NOOOOOOOO IDEA how good it feels to be able to reach, talk to, and be listened to, by the game devs, about game matters, after over two years of being ignored by EA in TSO. Now and then, the one customer representive would come in to help people she knew (as far as I know, those were the only ones) with bugs, but you never heard of it - you NEVER got feedback - there was a place to report bugs but they NEVER responded in it - and there CERTAINLY wasn't this nifty voting mechanism that has been put in here now (that was a stroke of genius). No meetings, nothing, nada; none of them in the game, and only one person on the forums, and that person talking only when they happened to feel like it, and then, only if they were allowed to.

Though they did actually hear us sometimes, and even change some stuff accordingly, for the longest time they refused to admit that anything we ever said even led to it. We were always in the dark, except for one brief period, and last I looked, they were all in the dark again. About everything. Anything. Anything and everything. You ain't gettin no answers, so don't bother to ask no questions.

Here you know what is coming up, what the problems are and why, what is being done to fix them, and the philosophy behind it all. One may not always agree with their decisions or their philosophy behind them, but hey - one is afforded the respect of hearing the facts and the reasoning and being able to make up one's own mind!

It is so reassuring to be in the loop instead of foundering around by yourselves, like the many thousands of us in TSO did, and being told we wouldn't be told anything. Here, you have some idea of what's coming in the future, instead of waiting for weeks, months, then starting to guess maybe the game is ending, then get told "not to start rumors." I mean, it was the same old crap for over two years with TSO.

Not only that, when I absolutely get to the end of my rope in this game about something, and I just absolutely cannot figure it out and neither can my friends, well, I just ask the hotline! And it actually gets answered! Amazing! And they're nice, and respectful, everywhere, not just on the forums, and don't slap you around for daring to even ask a question.

So I love the Lindens, oh yes I do.

I know how you feel Coco. It's a very nice feeling. I'm so glad you are settling down in SL. I'm so glad you are here.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?
Yes, it's true, I have a blog now!

Nice post Coco :) There are those that are quick to call anyone praising the Lindens as fanboys or insiders or what have you, but in my years of being involved in online gaming I've never seen a more dedicated and accessible dev team than LL. They truly go the extra mile. It's one of the things that makes me love this place so very much. Any other MMO developer would do well to take a page from LL's playbook.

I truly respect and admire Linden Lab. When you reach out to their staff, they absolutely reach back.

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.

It's been quite a day, and it's much appreciated. We Lindens are happy to have an open channel to share, and in turn, are thankful for such rapport with the community. I am continually reminded of this.

It's important to ask questions, because even if we - meaning Linden Lab and the residents as a whole, everyone involved in Second Life - don't have definite answers, the productive discussion will help us on the right track towards new discoveries and making headway.

Thank you. *smile*
