A (hopefully) simple matter...

At the urging of my new SL friends, I'm actually gonna ask about this problem I've had...
I crashed 2, 3, maybe 4 times last night while playing. Everytime I crashed, I lost all my avatar settings, any folders I had created that day, and any objects that contained outfits corrupted so that they wouldn't work when I tried to wear them. Even when I logged out, I lost my avatar's shape and skin settings, even though I had saved them. Does anybody else have this problem or has some God of Gaming singled me out and decided to torment me? Please let me know if I'm just not doing something right to prevent this from happening. I'm dreading coming in today to see what I lost from last night...

I have my complete avatar packed into a box - just in case. It took me a few hours to create it, and many more to tweak it. Good to have a backup. In fact, here's a strange story. I have a friend who is working on a special "skin" for me. It is fairly intricate, involving the legs, arms, head, etc, and the friend needed to have a fitting. I had the truly bizarre experience of giving my body to another player, watching them become me - standing there naked before me, trying things on. In a world of no mirrors, it was a disturbing moment P.S. I wouldn't recomment this with anyone but your most trusted friends P.P.S. By the way, I also have a complete of my house in inventory too.

That's just it. I had stuff packed in boxes and they either disappeared as though they never existed, although my bank account sure showed they had, or corrupted so I couldn't unpack them. They worked before I crashed, so... It's just really frustrating to crash, or log out because somebody says that your card shows you offline, and come back to find all the stuff you've bought is gone, and so is the cash you used. It wouldn't be such a big deal if it acted as though I'd never bought them, thus giving me back the money. *sigh* Maybe a Linden can clear it up, I hope.

Well, I would definately fill out the Bug Report and let them know all the particulars. Tell then when, what was missing, what the damages come to, etc.
In the meantime, I wonder if I should pack eveything in a box, release it, and stash it underground someplace :-)

How can you sit there and watch your avatar be naked? I can only assume your real life frends with someone customizing your avatar. Unless you have multiple accounts but if not then how can you watch your avatar if u aren't behind them?

Neo,
You can actually package your finished body into a folder (Outfit) and then hand a copy over to another player.
They can then just put it on.
Bizarre, eh?

Rollbacks don't affect the inventory, only the objects on the simulators. This sounds like a strange bug; I'll forward this thread to someone who might have an idea as to what might be going on.

I forgot you can do that, I was just thinking in terms of traditional ways. I see what you mean now, I tried getting my Dad, who is my real Dad, Peter Cartier to put on my skin but he wouldn't do it. I see now but it's not really that odd I don't think.
