Nothing quite like being neg rated with no explanation by an account that has been around about a month, has garnered no positve ratings or negative ratings, but has given 15 negative ones.
It would just be cool if I could get an explanation as to WHY people didn't like me... I don't care if they DO, I just want a reason.
My account's starting to look like a griefer's account with all these neg ratings by mule accounts :/

REMOVE RATINGS NOW! REMOVE RATINGS NOW!
C'mon Lindens. Instead of getting all hyped up about 'Linden restrictions', just use a chainsaw and remove ratings!
Oo! What would happen if we were to all pile in and neg-rate a Linden, just to get their attention?

I'm always faintly amused by people who (let's be fair -- allegedly) register accounts solely for purposes of negatively rating others. Good work, people. Nice use of resources there.
If I disliked someone intensely enough to actually bother seeking them out and rating them down, you can be sure that I'd tell them why. Mule-raters, (note that by coining this term, I've declared them to be the new scapegoat. Ready your angry rants, kids.) I don't get what the concern is with retaliatory rates. Is it that your argument is either so valid it requires two "voices" or is it just a fear of having your main account negatively rated?

obviously i'd like to keep my main account from getting negatively rated. i plan on winning SL and none of you can stand in my way.
(not that I was the one that neg-rated lordfly, though I don't doubt that any negrating is always deserved).

Hmm, here's my idea on how to fix it:
The value of your ratings depends on your current rating position by anyone else. If you have +400 behaviour rating, then your negative rating packs 'punch', if you have no current positive value, then the amount inflicted is much less. Same applies for poisiitve ratings... hmm thoughts?

Don't worry about it Lordfly. I went 6 months without getting a single neg rating, then within 3 days I got 4 or 5 triple neg ratings. One set was for calling someone out for being rude on the boards, the rest were from alt accounts of a person who did not like the disagreement going on that I happened to be involved in. I myself have never given a neg rating to anyone. And I think most people agree that I'm just about one of the eaisest persons in the world to get along with. I also tend to like just about everyone. The rating system is horribly flawed. That's all there is to it. Support the thread in the Feature Suggestions Forum that is directly related to this. Having the system changed or removed completly is the only vaild option. As it stands now, it just plain doesn't work. And by the way, I tend to judge someone more by how many neg ratings they have given than how many they have received.

I don't get this either. Half the fun of revenge is looking them right in the eye as they slowly realize, "It was you! It was you all along! How could I have been so blind?" as you twist the knife. Burn, baby! Burn! Muahahaha! *ahem* If it makes you feel better, go neg rate me in Olive. I don't think I have any yet, I don't need the bonus, and I have a tiny (yet loyal) social circle so the stigma won't hurt. Of course, all that might make neg rating me less appealing.

Get over it... Why do you people care so much about negative ratings. I'm getting so tired of reading all these post about the rating system that I wish I could negitive rate my self just for replying to this lame thread.
-Code
PS - Feel free to negative rate me.. I don't give a sh*t.

I hate to agree with Darwin but sign me up for a "ratings don't matter" t-shirt.
I should clarify: If you're two days old and have no positive ratings and -5 in all categories I might judge you based on ratings. Sorry!

I honestly don't think of it as "ohhhhh that hurt me as I'm perfect" -- or for lifers it doesn't affect their weekly stipend. What is annoying to me are the comments of "I don't know this person...." "Mule accounts are used for these ratings..." All of mine have been given out when I'm NOT online. The negs have been given out by someone who a) is definitely afraid to IM me in world; and b) thinks that the neg rating(s) is a way of hurting me. The fun part is when you realize that their anger is so intense (for whatever reason) that they switch to their alt account to negative rate you AGAIN. It's annoying to a degree, but also entertaining to see what lengths individuals go to supposedly "punish" another person with a different viewpoint. ((Spank me, ohhhhh spank me! I've been a baaaad, baaad girl!)) Sadly, all this person is doing is showing a major flaw in the rating system and a major flaw in their personality. Maybe a quick change in the ratings would be that Negative Ratings can only be done when you're within 1 meters of that individual. Now, that would be interesting to see.

Now, that would be interesting to see. That's just crazy enough to work... Of course, since I have a shield that can keep anyone about 3 meters from my person if I activate it, does that mean I'm unrateable?

Now, that might be fun seeing what would need to be done to seduce you to lower your shield.

Huns, that was the sorriest excuse fora spam post I have ever seen It should have been... "Yup." Anyways. How can these people be as stupid as to think that Others having one more neg rate will actually give them some sort of advantage?

Now, that would be interesting to see. It would! Since, last time I checked, the avatar x/y bounding box was near or over 1 People would literally have to cram themselves together to rate each other Perhaps, within whisper distance, 10m sounds reasonable.
