Why does the events tab in SL never show events that go later in the evening? Last night for example...under the events tab the latest event I saw was 5:30...yet clicking on all the little purple stars yeilded results as late as 10:00 P.M...why weren't these events listed?

There should be a button at the bottom of the list that says "more" or "later" or something (I'm not in-world right now and I don't recall exactly what it says).

Its a bug. My 'next' button has been missing since a few updates ago.

My "next" button seems to come and go.

To get to it, I have to get rid of my tool bar, and then sometimes it's not there.

What I do then is do a search on "games and contests" or whatever, and that narrows it down so that I can see the ones on later at night. (When the search thing works, that is.)

Everytime I hit the "Today" button it's a crap shoot whether I'll get the "Next" button or not. I just keep plugging away. Eventually it sorts itself out. Kind of a pain in the butt, yet manageable.

Yeah, it's a PITA. I sometimes have to go to the next day before my Next button appears, then go back to previous day to see tonight.

I've noticed it is slow when I'm in a laggy place or my connection is slow. Especially on days when there are lots of events.

I don't think the system was intended to hold so many. Today there appears to be around 300.

If I hit search again it usually comes up.

I guess I'm just more patient then most.

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?

To get my NEXT button I have to scroll to the very bottom of the window showing the last of the first 200 results. As in, it doesn't show up all the time unless I do that. Which is like, bad karma for UI and unintuitive.

Does that work for any of you? :)

I heard once that plausible reason for this has to do with the strain of retrieving things from the database, so only 200 are fetched at a time, and the button itself is in an ugly, hardtosee place.

There is no next button, and nothing I do makes one come up the >> button takes me to the next day. :( Why don't I have a next button?

Also why are these forums so stinking slow today...I think they need to un-mantinence the forums because whatever they did yesterday has caused pages today to load painfully slow!

The "next" would typically be at the bottom right of the window of events (if my hazy memory is correct). It is a shame you don't have it. Have you tried banging your head on the keyboard like that dude in Sesame Street that plays "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" on the piano? When you regain consciousness, you won't need the next button anymore. I hear this works sometimes.

Gosh, this sounds like a user interface stubtoe. :(

musicteacher, canya take a screenshot of when you scroll down to the bottom of the Events list that you DO see? I want to check something. :)

For me, when I hit the Events button, I get a bunch right away but not all of them or even enough to span a second page (so there's no next button yet). It seems to take quite a while for the rest to download. I'm not sure how long because usually I minimize the window and go do something else. A bit later (5-10 minutes maybe) I restore the window, and the rest are there (with the next button).

Maybe you just need to wait?

*bangs head on keyboard like that dude in Sesame Street that plays "row row row your boat on the piano due to stupidity*

Thanks...it's there at the bottom...didn't think to look at the bottom...Why would I look at the bottom?...I mean it's only part of the screen... *blush* Thanks!

Torley still want that screen shot?

No worries, looks like you got it sorted out! W00t. :D

It's an odd design choice, that button should show up ALL the time and be placed somewhere more visible, I feel.

Whew!

I've never seen a "Next" button, nor did I even know one existed. I tried all the things mentioned in this thread, and no "Next" button shows up anywhere. Can someone post a screenshot?

Wow, I feel so deprived. Would wearing watermelony colours help?

Oh, and if the date rolls over, and you suddenly can't seem to find any events at all anymore, be sure to click the PREVIOUS button... as searching again for events doesn't reset the page you are on.. Interesting design decision indeed ;)

"Show Mature" could also be a factor. I have seen the times stop around 5pm or 6pm and no "Next" button. But, it was because I did not have "Show Mature" checked. None of the evening events were PG. I checked to show mature and the "next" button magically appeared.
