Does anyone know if it is possible to send a message to someone who is in-world even though you aren't?

I think if you are replying to an email you received from an avatar when their IM was sent to your email address, it goes to that avatar inworld - beyond that I don't know.

I have IMed back and forth lots of times with people who have their IMs sent to email - could it be that it doesn't work if SL isn't installed on the comp? Would that make any sense? Wouldn't seem to.

It should just be possible to respond. Maybe there is a timeframe in wich you can respond.
