how to further modify skin

Hi, I would like to know how we can add further details to the skin like a scar on a cheek, or a beauty spot. Do we have to use an external drawing software to do that ?

I believe those types of things can be added as body tattoos, under appearance. You can download the templates for doing it on this site (but for the life of me i can't find them :() I'll keep looking...anyone else help me out here? I must be blind hehe
