Why No Burning Life Forum?

Considering Burning Life is now on, and so many have put so much effort into it, i see almost NO discussion about it here and I am not even sure WHERE to post details of my exhibit, or where to make comments on the great thngs I have seen from others.

WHY is there no Burning Life Forum set up for this supposed important event in SL?

Also it gets like 4 lines or so on the Front page of SL website and thats it..easy to miss, and the link from it just goes to the Linden Forum and not even a pointer to the original advert post. There seems to be almost NO follow up or marketing or featuring on this event from Linden Lab.

That's a shame, as I am sure many people including some I have already met in game don't even KNOW it is on. This seems a very poor effort considering the scope of the 6 sim project, absolutely nothing by the way of features from LL.

I have posted the details of my own Burning Life exhibit in the Special Attractions Forum and would welcome comments on it from visitors.

My own exhibit is in Burning Life 2, and is entitled
'Hiroshima Garden 1945-2005'

Time to burn it up on the General Forums... hey, at least you started a topic about it. Now maybe others will reply feverishly too!

i'm terribly sad that I have to miss it. I was able to duck in world for a second and a half to see Toast's build and was incredibly impressed. It's the kind of thing I would love to see as an installation art piece in an RL gallery -- certainly better than a lot of the (cough) stuff I see out there now. If her work is any indication of the creative builds in Burning Life, than the whole festival must really be wonderful.

for an unable-to-log-in-person, post pictures people please!

Hi Forseti! *waves madly*

Go to slpics.com and do a search for "burning life". That ought to bring up most if not all of the snaps people have been taking during construction - might give you a general idea of the creativity abounding there.

Hope to see you inworld again soon!

Talen had me build on his plot. Last year felt sorta quiet too, well to me anyways. But I got Talen to see it and my friend, Davo. So that's fine with me :D There's so much more fun stuff to see and interact with. I love the number of builds where I can walk into, like Tyg Jarrico's and there's a house in BL 4 where Osprey Therian and others joined together and made this fairytale inspired Alice in Wonderland house. And I'm happy Tiger Crossing is there again, cuz I love what he made last year. The barrels this year are fun too. :)

Great stuff all around.

I completly agree. I was expecting photoshoots, interviews, etc. But i also don't understand why there is no resident innitiative to do this.

The announcement post for Burning Life mentions "Burning the man" on Sept 5th, but I can't find anything in the events... this is some kind of official event, right? Anyone knows when it will take place?

I was kinda wondering that myself.

If LL isn't going to promote BL, then maybe the participants should devise something to promote it ourselves. To try and help with Katrina would be even better.

Some things I was thinking about doing:
 1. Auctioning off my build with the proceeds going to Katrina victims. Someone told me SL Boutique runs an auction service? Would anybody else be interested in doing something like this?
 1. I had been giving away free pendants at my build. If I could set it up so that visitors could purchase one for $L50 or whatever going to Katrina relief, I'd switch to that in a heartbeat. This would be really beneficial if other BL artists want to add thier own Katrina "freebee" at their build.

Burning Life is already set up with some truly fantastic and inventive creations, ready for people to view and enjoy in droves. If we can harnass this pre-existing traffic into doing something for NO, then I think we ought to try. Hell, I'm not doing anything this weekend anyway.

If anyone is interested in doing something like this, let me know inworld or post a reply.

LL isn't doing very much about Burning Life this year, from what I can see. I couldn't even get them to set over parcel for transfer to me after several days trying, and I had to drop out. The parcel's still there, still in my name, and still unclaimable. If anyone wants it, please try to contact the Lindens.

Well I imagine there haven’t been posts about Burning Life because it’s not open yet.

Yes you can go there and poke around and see the builds in progress now, but most of us are still busily building and putting the final touches on our exhibits. I don’t want to invite folks on mass to see an uncompleted work.

Once Burning opens officially tomorrow you’ll see many MANY posts on the subject. :D

For those who were wondering about the dates…

The 5th is not an event but the official opening day when the works are supposed to be completed and ready for viewing. The exhibits will be up till the 12th. Last year there was a closing ceremony of sorts so I’d keep a look out for that to be announced during the run.

I have added a forum for Burning Life 2005 to SLUniverse, if you would like to use it - it can be found here:

http://www.sluniverse.com/forums/Forum81-1.aspx

It is also in the General Forums section - http://forums.sluniverse.com

I am adding extensive support for Burning Life to Snapzilla as well. Any pictures sent from the Burning Life sims will automatically be flagged as Burning Life 2005 snapshots.. A section is being added to the site to exhibit the pictures from the event.

Additionally, I have addred Burning Life to theSLUniverse Calendar of Events, and will add some information to the home page of the site later today.

I am adding extensive support for Burning Life to Snapzilla as well. I will add a separate announcement for it, but any Burning Life related pictures should be sent to bl@slpics.com (you can also use burning@slpics.com or burninglife@slpics.com). Images sent to that address will automatically be tagged as Burning Life photos. A section is being added to the site to exhibit the pictures from the event.

Actually after testing, I realized that the burning life sims are all named Burning Life - so the pictures can automatically be flagged that way, making the email address unnecessary. However, it's part of new tag functionality being added to Snapzilla, so it wasn't pointless. Any pictures sent from the Burning Life sims will be automatically tagged, whether you use bl@slpics.com or not.
