I had a friend who was wanting to signup for a free trial of Second Life.
I gave him my referral URL and he followed it. He said that when he went to the page where you enter the name/password/email etc., it said he was being referred by Misnomer Jones and not me.
I then checked and sure enough, that's what it was saying. I also used the "Join Now" button off the second life front page and again, it said I was being referred by Misnomer Jones.
Can other people check this and see what they are getting, as I fear there's been a little error in the mix and I have told my friends, not to signup yet, until this is all worked out.

I went to my referal link and it said I'm being refered by me...
Maybe you were given the Misnomer Jones cookie once upon a time and so no matter what you will always be refered by her now. Try dumping all your cookies and try again.

The reason in my case was that I had been to Harald Nomad's site and clicked his referal link earlier. I think I just made sure I was logged in as myself and then sent the link again  .:Matina:. |

Well, by clearing cookies I was able to get my friend logged in under my referral.

Well, I've never actually TESTED the referral system. Since I got 5 right away (and I know at least a few of them corresponded with real people) I assumed it was working. But I've gotten none since, and when I used a fresh, un-cookied web browser just now to click on my own referral string there was no mention of my name, or anyone else's in the resultant page. There WAS a box that I could type someone's name in to give them credit.
Does the referrers name actually show up on the JOIN page? Or does it only show up AFTER the join process has finished?

The only place the referrers name shows up is on the registration page, just above the reg form, it will say: You have been referred by: Mac Beach I'll admit it is a rather subtle indication that you have been referred. -jim |
