What a week this has been in the forums.
As a result of various on-goings IW and on the forums, I am removing all of my free builds from the Bazaar in Stillman and from the GNU Dollar Store in Davenport.
They will return at some point, but I, like others, don't need this headache when we're trying to *HELP* the community. Being chastized by LL and taken advantage of IW and jabbed at here on the forums has made me feel a bit less altruistic.
I was trying to do a good thing here.. and I end up getting the shaft from players IW, taunted on the forums and then skewered by LL.
Thanks.
I will, of course, continue to hand out the freebies at request, but until I can come up with a solution that leads to less of a headache, they will come down. My apologies.

Juro I'm sorry you've had a tough week and I'm wondering if RATE is going to be able to provide more leadership with this issue.
I had a post removed to a thread also, and my impression is that no one at LL read it enough to realize it was a discussion of mechanics dealing with Group Recruitment - not a spam to attend a Mentor Event.
I've chocked this up to sometimes the right hand doesn't know which arm is which and continue optimistic that with the Forum re-Org some of this confusion will be resolved.

Blah. Two people in one day (Juro and Jai) having problems and feeling sad because of the resulting headache they get from trying to help out other players makes me really, really sad. You two are both great people and excellent builders. I hope the fact that the larger community appreciates what you are trying to accomplish helps somewhat.

Beryl, <<Blah. Two people in one day (Juro and Jai) having problems and feeling sad because of the resulting headache they get from trying to help out other players makes me really, really sad.>> I agree. There is something really wrong with the place when that happens.

From: someone Originally posted by Merwan Marker Juro I'm sorry you've had a tough week and I'm wondering if RATE is going to be able to provide more leadership with this issue. I hope so, Merwan, but I've been so busy with RL work this past month or so I just haven't had time to do anything with it, and it seems to be idling at the moment. The best we can do if and when we do get it going full steam is spread awareness of the issue and hope a lot of merchants will want to participate. Even then, we can only hope to prevent people who might do it because they don't know any better. Those that are determined to take advantage of other people's altruism will still do it. Our best hope is in the revamped permission system. Until then all we can do is make noise about it and hope that it makes some people think twice.

I don't understand the Linden reaction here. You didn't do anything wrong in that post. Musta been a Linden alt who got their feelings hurt.

I feel your pain dude, you are at the place I was a few months ago, when the amount of headache and heartache exceeds the fun and appreciation.
Yep, I know it's only a small amount of people that make it so compared to the number of people served... But just like the outspoken fundamentalists of religious circles, it's that minority that make it painfull for all.
I still pass out a lot of stuff to those that ask - but I beleive we can officially call the Dollar Store Collective Commons experiment an official failure, and hopefully wait to see if the re-vamped permissions (1.5 was the version this little bird heard *shrug*) holds anything that will let this project be ressurected.
Mark it up to experience..
Siggy.

Bro for real I feel bad about joking with you in the other thread. Please contact Robin via phone or private message. Maybe through that you can get some closure. I know I am less altruistic and way more obnoxious but I do feel your pain as well.
One love Juro.

Chip, I'll contact you next week (I'm not much in world at the moment, also due to RL) and see if we can get RATE moving again.
